Description
Interstitial lung disease consists of a group of lung disorders in which there occurs inflammation and scarring of lung tissue. This leads to decreased functioning of the lungs and thus affects a person’s ability to breathe. It is caused due to long term exposure of hazardous materials such as asbestos, certain autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis, SLE, some medicines, etc. But the exact cause is unknown. As there occur difficulty in breathing, the less oxygen gets available to the body cells.
The common signs and symptoms of interstitial lung disease are:
- Dry cough
- Shortness of breath
- Tightness in chest
- Fatigue
HOW AYURVEDA HELPS?
In Ayurveda, interstitial lung disease comes under the category of Shwas roga. It involves all the respiratory disorders. In this, all the three doshas – vata, pitta and kapha are aggravated with a predominance of vata dosha. There are numerous herbs in Ayurveda which balance the three doshas and thus help in curing the disease.

1. Broncho care syrup:
Broncho care syrup is used to eliminate chronic cough, bronchitis, common cold, whooping cough, etc. This ayurvedic syrup contains Vasa patra (Adhatoda vasica), Kantkari (Solanum surattense), Mulethi (Glycyrrhiza glabra), Bharangi (Clerodendrum serratum), Chitrakmool (Plumbago zeylanica), Sonth (Zingiber officinale), Pippali(Piper longum), Lasoda (Cordia dichotoma), Pudina (Mentha spicata), etc. These ingredients show antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, bronchodilator properties.
Recommended Dosage – Take 2 teaspoonful twice a day.
2. Cough Go Tablets:
Cough Go tablets are ayurvedic formulation containing ingredients like Sonth (Zingiber officinale), Mulethi (Glycyrrhiza glabra), Pippali (Piper longum), Kali mirch (Piper nigrum), etc. These tablets are very effective in bronchitis, cough, cold, nasal problems, and other respiratory problems.
Recommended Dosage – Take 1 tablets twice a day with normal water.
3. Cough Detox powder:
This ayurvedic powder is very effective in cough with mucus, cold, and other respiratory disorders. Cough powder is a mixture of some ayurvedic ingredients like talisadi churna, abharak bhasam, godanti bhasam, lakshmi vilas rasa, yashtimadhu churna, tankan bhasma, kaph ketu ras. These ingredients in combination show antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, bronchodilator, & expectorant properties.
Recommended Dosage: Take 1 sachet twice a day with honey.
4. Trikatu Tablet:
Trikatu tablets are mixture of three herbs which are Saunth (Zingiber officinale), Marich (Piper nigrum), Pippali (Piper longum). These tablets improve digestion, boost your metabolism, helps in eliminating fat tissues and kapha dosha, support respiratory functions, and remove impurities and ama from the body.
Recommended Dosage: Take one tablet twice daily with normal water.
5. Kapha balance tablet:
CAC Kapha tablet is a healthy blend of herbs formulated to balance Kapha doshas without aggravating Pitta and Vata doshas. It can also be used to alleviate any temporary Kapha imbalance. It is very effective in Kapha season that is late winter and spring. It consists of warming and astringent herbs that help to balance the system throughout the cold season. The main use of Kapha tablets is to remove excess Kapha doshas from the system and helps in the management of weight, healthy lungs, and the immune system.
