Panchakarma
In Ayurved, the body is the combined of air, water, fire, earth and ether. Then comes the organisation of the body. The body is organised further into combination of these elements. The combination of ether and air is known as the Vata, the combination of water and fire is Pitta and combination of water and earth is known as Kapha. Together all of them are known as the tridosha. When the tridosha gets imbalanced in the body, diseases set in. Ayurved is the study of balancing the doshas and your lifestyles to lead a healthy life. The main cause of disease lies in the production of ama (toxins) in the body.
Panchkarma is a combination of purification techniques. It doesn’t just end at the clinic. After the respective therapy, the person is brought to a healthier lifestyle which keeps the production of ama (toxins) at bay.
Before any purification technique gets started snehan is done. Snehan is the oil massaging of the whole body in such a manner that all the toxins move towards the digestion tracts or the gastrointestinal tract. After that the process of Panchkarma begins.

Book NowVamana
When the Kapha dosha increases in the body, congestion occurs. In Vamana, after the oil massage is done and the toxins have moved into the gastrointestinal tract, vomiting is induced. It is completely safe and monitored by your vaidya. Certain types of herbal medicines are given to induce the vomiting.
A night before vamana, Kapha aggravating food in given to the person. On the day of the therapy the Kapdh Dosha is attempted to be melted. The melting of this dosha is done mostly by steaming. After the dosha is melted and brought into the gastrointestinal tract herbal medicines inform of tablets or liquids are administered to the person. These herbal medicines induce controlled vomiting.
The person is sat down on a bed with a comfortable environment with a spittoon in front of him. When the person starts vomiting the practitioner starts massaging his temple region and head while one person rubs the stomach. This ensures that the person doesn’t get stressed out during the procedure.
Successful implementation of the Vamana Process is indicated by the expulsion of yellow bile juices at the end of the process. After this the person is treated with herbal oils and ghee. They are not immediately brought to regular food. The Vaidya prescribes a diet for you for 1-4 days, which is to be followed for perfect healing.
Virechan
Virechan therapy is administered to people whose Pitta dosha is aggravated. Pitta dosha if aggravated can cause acne, skin diseases, fever and risks of jaundice. This dosha is placed in the intestinal level and therefore is best to have excreted out. Virechan helps in cleaning out the excretory organs like sweat glands, kidneys, the gastrointestinal tract and the rectum. It also frees a person from headaches, anaemia and gynaecological problems.
The process of Virechan takes about 2-3 days. In the beginning of the process the Vaidya prescribes a light diet. During this treatment the patient should not eat anything that aggravated the Pitta Dosha. After 2-3 days the Vaidya prescribes herbal laxatives which induce bowel movement.
The herbal laxative prescribed is free from any side-effects and is completely safe. It is the most natural therapy and helps in regaining the mental stability also.
The laxatives help in excreting the Pitta Dosha through the anal passage.
There are four kinds of Virechana Therapy: Anulomana, Sansarjana, Bhedana and Rechana. The kind of therapy prescribed to you will depend on your Vaidya after thorough examination of your body.
Basti Karma
This Panchkarma therapy is all in one therapy and is also known as the mother of all therapies. Basti Karma eliminates all the doshas in the body. The best to administer the process is in early morning. A vaidya would prescribe basti karma if you are suffering from arthritis, digestion problems, chronic headaches etc. This process helps in detoxifying the whole body and the process can last up to 8-30 days.
After the therapeutic massage is given on target regions, herbal oils are injected in the anus. This oil is retained there for 10 minutes and then more oils are injected in the anus. This is retained for 30 minutes. After this the person is required to excrete out the faeces. This process helps in clearing out the colon which improves digestion and the mind. A successful implementation of Basti Karma is indicated by maximum 2 excretions.
Nasya
The nostrils are believed to be the path to consciousness. A person suffering with ENT problems is administered Nasya therapy. It helps in relieving of sinus, headaches, depression, brain related problems and cervical spondylosis. Problems of hair-loss, premature greying of hair, stress, congestion, allergies etc are also taken care of through Nasya treatment.
The treatment begins with giving therapeutic facial massage with herbal oils. Then steam is given to the person. This ensures the adhesive doshas are melted.
At the end of the process medicated oils are poured drop by drop in the nostrils of the person. The person is required to breathe deeply. Based on the condition of the person, herbal smoke or ciggarates are given to smoke. This helps in opening up the nasal passage. This treatment regulates emotions and mental health.
Rakta Mokshana
In this therapy a person’s toxic blood is extracted. When a person has repeated allergies, skin disorders, rashes, herpes, eczema etc this therapy is prescribed. An aggravated Pitta usually results in these diseases. Since pitta and blood have a close interaction, it is safe to extract excess pitta through bloodstreams.
The process of Rakta mokshan is absolutely painless. There are various ways through which this therapy is administered. Blood could be extracted through syringes, leeches, suction pots, or calabash gourd which also sucks blood.
This process helps relive any ama or toxins from the body. Rakta moksha helps in regulation of working of the spleen. Rakta mokshan also helps in strengthening the immune system.
