What are the Early Symptoms and Treatment of Gout?

A painful form of arthritis is known as gout which is caused by crystals that occur around the joints. Gout is the most common type of inflammatory arthritis. Men are more affected as compare to females and persons with older ages get it easily.
A person with high levels of urate in their blood often suffers from Gout but it not always necessary. It’s normal and a person feels healthy if he has urate in blood.
Urate is formed in our body due to breaking down purines. About three-quarters of the urate formed from purines breakdown everyday within our body, while only a quarter formed from purines breakdown in food and drink we consume.
Out of a number of types of arthritis, Gout is the most common type of arthritis that results in intense pain, swelling in joints, and stiffness also occurs. It probably affects the big toe joint.
Gout comes in quick time and goes over time, harming tissues slowly and cause inflammation, pain in the region. Cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, and obesity are common risk factors for gout. Women get this gout disease after menopause. Gout occurs after trauma, surgery, and dehydration commonly.

Signs & symptoms
- Severe and sudden
- Pain in a joint, usually in the early morning or the middle of the night
- Tenderness present in the joint. It can also be warm to the touch and look red or purple
- Stiffness occurs in the joint
- Appearance of boils
- Excess or absence of perspiration
- Abnormal complexion & appearance of patches
- Lumps are known as tophi formed beneath the skin due to accumulation of crystals
- Formation of kidney stones
- Warmth, swelling, reddish discoloration
- Ankles, knees, wrists, fingers, and elbow are affected
- Immobility in some cases
Causes
Gout usually takes place when there is an accumulation of urate crystals in the joints. These crystals are formed when the level of uric acid increases in the blood. Uric acid is produced in the body when the purines are breakdown.
These purines are mostly found in seafood, organ meat, & steak. The food items that promote a high level of uric acid are beer, alcoholic beverages, & sweetened drinks

- Intake of alcohol
- Medications like diuretics and cyclosporine
- Conditions like hypertension, kidney diseases, thyroid, or sleep apnea.

- Ultrasound & ct scan to spot joint damage or crystals in joint

Risk factors
- The obese persons are at risk of developing more uric acid due to which kidneys have difficulty in developing uric acid.
- Eating a diet rich in seafood, meat, & drinking beer, alcohol, soft drinks that are responsible for increasing gout risk.
- Diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart diseases, metabolic syndrome, & kidney diseases are responsible for gout.
- Family history is also another reason for the development of gout.
- The patient between the ages of 30 & 50 is more likely to develop gout.
- Trauma & recent surgeries can attack gout in an individual.
Ayurveda view
As per Ayurveda, gout is known as Vata rakta roga. In this vitiated Vata doshas get combined with impure blood(rakta) and travel throughout the body causes swelling, pain and inflammation in joints.
Due to intake of salty, sour, pungent and alkaline food , fatty, hot and cooked articles, causes indigestion aggravates Vata rakta (gout). It is present in hands, feet, fingers and hence spread throughout the body.
Home remedies for uric acid
- Drink lots of water 10 to 12 glasses every day to flush excess acid from body.
- Avoid high protein diet like red meat, shellfish, soybean, tofu, and soy products
- Artificial protein by bodybuilders should be avoided
- Intake of food rich in vitamin c and vitamin e to reduce uric acid
- Cherries, strawberries and blueberries are excellent fruits to reduce uric acid.
- Take high fibrous diet like apple, pears, papayas, round guard , bottle guard, pumpkin, long gourd are good to reduce high uric acid.
- Apple juice can be taken along with amla and aloe vera juice
- Fresh coconut water should be consumed daily
- To avoid junk food, soft drinks, and frozen food, eat naturally.
- Be stress-free as stress aggravates gout attacks and cause high BP and diabetes
