SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH
Sexual and reproductive health can be defined as a person’s right to a healthy body and the autonomy, education and healthcare to freely decide who to have sex with and how to avoid sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancy. It involves gender equality, respect, safety and freedom from discrimination, violence and stigma.
REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH:
It is termed as a condition of male and female reproductive system during all stages of life .these system are made of organs and hormone producing gland including the pituitary gland in brain. In female ovaries and in male testicles are the reproductive organs. They also function as glands because it produces and release hormones.
MAIN OBJECTIVES OF INCREASING AWARENESS OF REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH:
- It helps in educating every youth about sexual and reproductive health .
- It creates awareness in adults and safe sexual practices .
- Preventing STD’s diseases including HIV ,AIDS.
- It protects the mother and child from infectious diseases and to deliver a healthy baby.
- It provide complete knowledge about the early pregnancy ,infertility, birth control method, post childbirth care of baby and mother.
Female disorder include :
- Early or late puberty.
- Endometriosis is a condition in which presence of tissue resembling endometrium outside the uterus.
- Menstrual problem such as amenorrhoea ,oligomenorrhoea, Dysmenorrhoea.
- Problems during pregnancy.
- PCOS
- STD’S
- Uterine fibroids , non cancerous growth inside the uterus.
- Inadequate breast milk supply.
Male disorder include :
- Impotence or erectile dysfunction.
- Low sperm count
IMPORTANCE OF REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH:
It is a healthy state of physical mental conditions in body where the proper functioning of reproductive organs is take place . The three components of reproductive health is family planning, sexual health and maternal health.
- Family planning: It is one of the important component of reproductive health . It is the ability of the couple to anticipate and attained their desired number of offspring with proper spacing and timing their birth. It can be achieved by proper precaution and birth control methods.
- Sexual Health : It deals with sexual relationship with a positive approach. It does not only deal with proper use of contraceptives for unwanted pregnancies but also for the prevention sexually transmitted disease.
- Maternal Health : It refers to the taking care of women health during pregnancy and to providing the proper access of medical care.
SEXUAL HEALTH:
It is define as the overall health and well being of individuals ,couples , families and the social and economic development of communities and country .It requires a respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships .the ability of men and women to achieve sexual health and well depends on their:
- Good quality information about sex and sexuality.
- Knowledge about the risk they face and vulnerability to adverse consequences of unprotected sex.
- Information about sexual health care .
- Living in the environment that affirms and promote sexual health.
SEXUAL HEALTH RELATED ISSUES:
- Infection with Immuno deficiency virus , sexually transmitted disease
- Unintended pregnancy and abortion.
- Sexual dysfunction
- Sexual violence.
- Harmful practices such as female genital mutilation.
FACTORS CONTRIBUTING SEXUAL HEALTH ISSUES :
- Hormonal imbalance
- Smoking
- Antidepressant drugs
- Depression
- Obesity
- High blood pressure
- Diseases like diabetes mellitus, cardiac issues, kidney and liver failure.
- High cholesterol.

- Right to health care and information
- Right to privacy
- Right to decide the number and spacing of children
- Right to consent to marriage and equality in marriage.
- Right to equality and non – discrimination.
- Right to free from practices.
- Right to freedom and expression.
- Right to an effective remedy for violations of fundamental rights.
METHODS TO KEEP A HEALTHY REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM :
- Taking a balanced diet with fibre rich foods and low in fat.
- Drinking more amount of water which helps in flushing out body toxins .
- Daily exercise.
- Maintaining a healthy weight not to put stress on reproductive health.
- Taking sound sleep for a healthy mind and body.
- Avoid use of tobacco or cigratte.
- Meditation and yoga for managing stress.
- Regular checkup.
