Patient Story – Rajmal, Suffering from Ascites

Rajmal a 40 years male patient from Hisar visit our clinic with a tense Ascites (Fluid in abdomen) with difficulty in breathing. He lookspale,tensed, breathlessness and edema over whole body. He during his history tells that the problem started 2 years back when he started feeling heaviness of abdomen with poor appetite. He doesn’t pay much attention towards the illness of his disease and thought that it might be because of gaseous issue and get cured within a day or two. But the worries started when the condition worsen within a week and size of his abdomen started increase with no improvement in appetite. He then visits the nearby hospital for the diagnosis and treatment of his disease. The doctor after examination of the patient and going through all his history advise him of some reports (CBC,LFT, USG-Abdomen, CRP, Chest X-Ray) . After the result of the reports came the doctor told the patient and the relatives that due to chronic alcohol abuse he developed chronic liver disease with ascites. He also added that the cirrhosis of the liver is difficult to treat with long term treatment plan. This brings the storm of sorrow to the family and takes away all their happiness.

After all their discussion they decide to start treatment and also sent ascetic fluid (needle aspiration) for the examination. They took medication for a week for the first time. He got some relief and also his appetite increase a little bit with the medication. He again visits the hospital after completion of one week of course. The doctor then started him on diuretic to overcome his ascites to some extent. After one week he feels more relief with diuretic also his edema as well as ascites resolves to some extent. After which he develop hope of getting completely cured and being healthy but the happiness is for short time. As soon as the dose of diuretic decrease his condition again get worsen the ascites again get increase, edema appear over whole body and also develop urinary retention. This again makes him worried and also hopeless to get cured. They then rush to the hospital as he stops eating anything with difficulty in breathing. Then he gets hospitalized and ascetic tapping done which give him some relief but make him complete lethargic. Then after some improvement in his condition after one week he got discharged with medication which includes diuretic and steroids. They then started searching for the other options to cure the disease. In between he again and again need ascetic tapping with no power left in his body. Then one day one of their relative came to see him and after seeing his condition he advise them to switch to Ayurveda for the treatment. They search on internet and came to know about Chandigarh Ayurved Centre and contact the doctor on phone. After hearing the history of the patient and going through all his reports the doctor advise them to visit the clinic and assure them of the treatment of the disease. After getting satisfactory response on the phone they came to visit our clinic. After taking the history of the patient, examination and going through all his report Vaidya Karanvir Singh tell the family not to worry about the patient. With time after taking medication and panchakarma therapies he will get cured. After hearing this from the doctor they couldn’t believe on their ears. They decide to get the patient admitted and start the treatment. After 2 weeks of treatment and panchkarma therapies the patient get 50% cured and continue the medication. Now after 2 months of medication he is 80% cured with no side effects. 

TREATMENT GIVEN TO THE PATIENT:-

1. Gokshura Capsule:

Gokshura capsule is pure ayurvedic medicine which is very effective in ascites as it has anti-inflammatory properties that reduce the swelling of the abdomen. It also acts as diuretic which causes increased urine secretion from the body and removal of all the toxins. These capsules contain pure extract of Gokshura (Tribulusterrestris).

Recommended Dosage: Take one capsule twice daily with normal water.

2. Detox Premium Powder:

Detox premium powder contain various herbo-mineral ingredients. This herbal powder is prepared from Motipishti, Prawalpishti, Shuktapishti, Giloysatva, Kamdudharas, Jaharmohra, Akikpishti, Gandhakrasayan, Tal sindoor, Shankhbhasm, Sutshekharras, Sudhyog tab, Shwetparpati, Yavakshaar. Recommended Dosage: Take 1 teaspoonful at bedtime with warm water.

4. Sheet Dhara Syrup:

This herbal syrup improves appetite, reduces hyperacidity, improves digestion, and helps in maintaining overall health. Sheet dhara syrup is herbal formula prepared from ajwainsatav, peppermint, & mushakkapoor.

Recommended Dosage: Take a half teaspoon in a half cup of water twice daily on an empty stomach.

5. Trikatu Tablet:

Trikatu tablets are mixture of three herbs which are Saunth (Zingiberofficinale), Marich (Piper nigrum), Pippali (Piper longum). These tablets improve digestion, boost your metabolism, helps in eliminating fat tissues and kaphadosha, support respiratory functions, and remove impurities and ama from the body.

Recommended Dosage: Take one tablet twice daily with normal water.

6. Kidney Care Churna:

The kidney care churna is prepared from herbs like Bhumiamla (Phyllanthusniruri), Manjistha (Rubiacordifolia), &Punarnava (Boerhaviadiffusa). These herbs in combination show anti-inflammatory, diuretic, antioxidant, analgesic, etc properties. Kidney care churna keep all kidney function tests (serum creatinine, urea, sodium, potassium, chlorine, & uric acid), etc in normal range. The use of this churna reduces swelling in the body, remove kidney stones, deal with urinary tract infection, general weakness, & fatigue, etc related to kidney patients.

7 VIRECHAN :

Virechana is a Sanskrit word that means “laxative” or “purging” and may refer to any substance used to induce purging. It mainly includes the administration of purgative substances for the cleansing of pitta through the lower pathways.

Procedure –This therapy involves the intake of Ayurvedic and herbal medicines that destroy the doshas and toxin from the body and bring them to the abdomen. As Pitta is situated at the level of intestines, it is best to expel toxins through the anal route. The Ayurvedic medications that are used for the therapy may vary from person to person depending on the patient’s digestion strength. During the whole treatment, the patient will be subjected to oral intake of Ayurvedic medicines followed by fermentation. The patient will also be subjected to a personalized light and warm diet.
