DESCRIPTION

Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs that grow in ovary. These cyst are generally widespread and usually harmless. Many women have no symptoms and about one-third of women have an ovarian cyst at any stage. According to Ayurveda these ovarian cysts comes under Kaphaj granthi-granthi aartav dosha. Aartav means “ovaries” and granthi means “sac” like formation.

CAUSES OF OVARIAN CYSTS ACCORDING TO AYURVEDA

As per Ayurveda cancer or cysts that are formed in ovaries comes under Granthi Roga. These cysts develop due to imbalanced kapha dosha. Ayurvedic herbal medicines balance hormonal levels, maintain better functioning of reproductive system and decrease the size of ovarian cyst. TYPES OF OVARIAN CYST

Mainly two types of cyst:

1. Corpus luteum cyst – This type of cyst develops in the corpus luteum where an egg is released during ovulation. These cysts may bleed and cause pain.
2. Follicular cyst – This type of cysts form in a follicle where an egg develops during ovulation.
   OTHER TYPE OF OVARIAN CYST INCLUDE:-
3. Endometriomas – these tissue normally grow and develop inside the uterus can migrate outside the uterus and attach to the ovaries, grow large and rupture just like functional cysts.
4. Cystadenomas – In this condition non-cancerous growth occur on the outer surface of ovaries.
5. Dermoid cysts – this type of cysts grow in the ovaries and contain hair, teeth and other substances.
6. Non- functional cyst – In this condition ovaries make a lot of small cysts and commonly known as polycystic ovarian syndrome. This condition makes a women hard to get pregnant. Nonfunctional cysts may be caused by cancer that are susceptible in women after menopause.
   

HOW TO DIAGNOSE OVARIAN CYSTS?

• Sonography – this technique uses sound waves to see the images of cyst in ovary, uterus, and fallopian.
  Routes of sonogram are either through vagina or abdomen. Ovarian cancer can also be diagnosed with the help of sonography. 
• Pelvic ultrasound – this type of pelvic ultrasound is done for abdominal and vaginal regions of women and rectal regions of men.
  In this method high frequency sound waves create images ovaries and uterus on a video screen. 
• Laparoscopy – it is the method an instrument is inserted into abdomen through a small cut giving anesthesia to patient and can remove the ovarian cysts. 
• Blood test – blood test are also done because solid ovarian cyst is more prone to ovarian cancer. So the elevated levels of cancer antigen are usually seen in women and in case of uterine fibroids and endometriosis, increased level of (CA 125) are also present.}

DOS AND DON’TS

• Don’t rest too much – Too much rest can weaken muscles which can worsen joint pain.

WHAT IS BRONCHITIS?

Bronchitis occurs when the bronchioles that carrying air to bronchial tubes in the lungs are inflamed and make too much mucus.
There are two basic types of bronchitis:-
