This is a very dangerous disease. There are many other signs of this, such as swelling under the eyes, swelling of hands and feet, in addition to which the amount of cholesterol in the body increases. The biggest side effect of this disease is that it worsens the kidneys (glomeruli). Glomeruli are small vessels that filter waste and excess water from the blood and send them to the bladder in the form of urine. Nephrotic syndrome can be the cause of many diseases.
Kidney nephrotic syndrome is a common disease. Loss of protein in urine, decrease in the amount of protein in the blood, high levels of cholesterol and swelling in the body are the symptoms of this disease. Due to this disease of the kidneys, swelling can occur in the body at any age, but mainly this disease is seen in children.
Dr. says that due to proper treatment, control of the disease and subsequent re-appearance of inflammation, this is a characteristic of nephrotic syndrome, lasting for years. Due to repeated swelling for a long time, this disease is a worrying disease for the patient and his family members. In the nephrotic syndrome, due to enlargement of the hole like a kidney filter, the extra water and excretory substances as well as the protein required by the body are released along with urine, which reduces the amount of protein in the body and swelling in the body. Seems to be.
It can affect people of all age groups. The disease is most common in the age group of 2 to 6. Apart from this, the disease is seen more in men than women.

Causes of Nephrotic syndrome
Nephrotic syndrome is caused by various disorders that damage the kidneys, especially the basement membrane of the glomerulus. This causes abnormal levels of protein in the urine. This condition can also occur as a result of infection, drug exposure, malignancy, hereditary disorder, immune disorder, or many other diseases affecting the body. Such as diabetes, systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple myeloma and amyloidosis etc. It can occur with kidney diseases, including glomerulonephritis, focal and segmental glomerulosclerosis, and mesangiocapillary glomerulonephritis.
What are the symptoms of nephrotic syndrome?
- General inflammation
- Swelling around the eyes
- To a large extent swelling in the foot and ankle
- facial swelling
- Weight gain due to flood retention
- Loss of appetite and high blood pressure
Diagnosis of nephrotic syndrome
- Physical examination can detect its symptoms. Apart from this, body signs also help in detecting this disease. Some tests are done for this-
- Urine test- If you have nephrotic syndrome, you may be asked to collect urine samples over 24 hours for accurate measurement of protein in the urine.
- Blood test- If you have nephrotic syndrome, a blood test may specifically show low levels of protein albumin (hypoalbuminemia). Blood protein levels are often underestimated in this. Loss of albumin is often associated with an increase in blood cholesterol and blood triglycerides. Serum creatinine and blood urea can also be measured to assess your overall kidney function.
- Biopsy- To remove a small sample of kidney tissue for testing, your doctor may recommend a procedure called renal biopsy. During a kidney biopsy, a special needle is inserted into your skin and your kidneys. Kidney tissue is collected and sent to the laboratory for testing.
Prevention of Nephrotic syndrome
To avoid this disease, it is most important that the symptoms should be recognized and treated in time. Understand the signs of nephrotic syndrome and seek medical attention immediately. Take the test conducted by the doctor seriously and get the right treatment. If you understand the common symptoms and consult a doctor, then to a great extent the disease can be controlled.
