AYURVED APPROACH
In Ayurved it can be correlated with Mamsa-shosha which develop due to imbalance of dosha and dhatus ( basic elements for maintaining body structures ). There is vitiation of kapha which hinders the digestive fire in the body causing formation of ama. The kapha along with the ama due to their similar properties cause obstruction of the Srotus ( channels) leading to vitiation of the vata dosha .
The Vitiated Vata in turn cause depletion of the region it affects . Along with this there is Vitiation of the Dhatwagni ( metabolism) which is responsible for the metabolism of respected Dhatu ( basic element ) also leading to depletion of the mamsa ( muscles).
