Introduction
Jamun is very important ayurveda herb. Jamun seeds are mainly used in Ayurveda treatment. Usually you throw away the seedsafter eating blackberries, but blackberry seeds are as beneficial for your health as any herb.
Botanical name– Syzygium cumini
Family- Myrtaceae
Sanskrit name- Phalendra, mahaphala, jambu, surbhipatra, Kokileshta
Hindi name- Jamun, Jambul, Badi jamun, Fadena
Punjabi- jamalu

In Charak samhita
- Mutrasangrahaniya– Group of herbs that cause urine retention
- Pureeshavirajaneeya- Group of herbs that are used to restore normal colour of feces
- Chardinigrahana- Group of herbs that are used to treat vomiting
- Sushruta and vagbhata – Nyagrodhadi group of herbs

Benefits of Jamun
- Control blood pressure- You may be very worried due to high blood pressure, but you can adopt a home remedy, which will prove to be very beneficial for you. You can make powder of jamun seeds and take it with water.
- Keep digestive system healthy- Jamun seeds are beneficial for disease like stomach ache and stones, making powder of its seeds and eating it before sleeping at night will keep your digestive system good.
- Useful in weight loss- It is a great recipe for weight loss, which you can include in your diet. After waking up in the morning , eat one spoon of this powder regularly and drink as much water as possible. This will reduce your belly fat and help keep you healthy.
- Good for skin- Jamun can be used both internally and externally to cure skin diseases. Jamun juice reduces pimples, acne, blemishes.

- Increase hemoglobin– It proves to be very beneficial for women and anemia patients.
- Beneficial for eyes- It helps build and maintain connective tissues in your body. It also includes collagen present in the cornea of the eyes.
- It is also used for the treatment of lung & other problems like cough asthma and bronchitis.

Fresh juice-10-20ml
Seed powder- 1-3gm
Fruits– as per taste
Precautions
- Jamun fruit should be avoided on empty stomach.
- Intake of milk and water at least one hour after and before this fruit is avoided.
