Interstitial lung disease is defined as a group of conditions that cause inflammation and scarring in lungs. The damaged tissue between the tiny air sacs in lungs and the blood vessels around them . As a result reduce oxygen movement between lungs and body.

TYPES OF INTERSTIAL LUNG DISEASE
- Asbestosis : It is a chronic lung condition caused by prolonged exposure to asbestos.
- Bronchiolitis obliterans: inflammation of the small airways in the lungs called bronchioles.
- Chronic silicosis : As a result of inhaling silica,lung disease can develop.
- Connective tissue related pulmonary fibrosis : A lung disorder that impacts some humans with connective tissue illness,which include scleroderma or Sjogren’s syndrome.
- Desquamative interstitial pneumonitis : A condition that causes bronchi redness and is more prevailing in society who smoke.
- Familial pulmonary fibrosis :An accumulation of scar fabric in the bronchi that influences two or more members of the same family.
- Sarcoidosis : It is a disease that causes clumps of inflammatory cells to form in organs such as lungs and lymph nodes.
CAUSES OF INTERSTITIAL LUNG DISEASE
- Smoking
- Genetic predisposition
- Exposure to certain medication or therapies such as chemotherapy
- Autoimmune diseases such as scleroderma,rheumatoid arthritis.
- Long exposure to a number of toxins and pollutants such as silica dust, grain dust and asbestos fibers.
