Eosinophils are a type of disease-fighting white blood cell. It is a normal part of the cellular immune system. They are very important for the immune system. They play an important role in normal bodily processes. They provide a protective shield to the body against parasitic infections and allergic reactions.

Blood eosinophilia: When the level of eosinophil cells in the blood increases, it is called blood eosinophilia.
Tissue eosinophilia: If there is an increase in the level of white blood cells in the tissues of the body affected by infection or inflammation in the body, it is called tissue eosinophilia.
Eosinophilic disorders are known as:
Eosinophilic cystitis: This is a bladder disorder.
Eosinophilic fasciitis: This is a disorder of the fascia, in which the connecting tissues are damaged.
Eosinophilic gastroenteritis: a disorder involving the stomach and intestines.
Eosinophilic gastritis: stomach disorder
Eosinophilic pneumonia: a lung disorder
Eosinophilic colitis: a disorder involving the colon (large intestine)
Eosinophilic esophagitis: Disorder involving the oesophagus
What are the symptoms of Eosinophilia?

- History of the patient- Medical and Family History
- Like other blood disorders, eosinophilia can be detected by a complete blood test (CBC).
- In children’s it is difficult to diagnose.
- Test for causative conditions such as a stool sampling Test, Chest X-ray, Liver function test, Urine tests.
- Serological test
- Echocardiogram to assess the thrombi.
- Diagnosis may require a Biopsy of the Tissue and bone marrow biopsies.
