What is indigestion?
Indigestion (also called as dyspepsia or stomach upset) that happens to almost everyone.
This is not a disease, but it is a sign of various underlying problems like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), ulcers, or gallbladder disease. Unhealthy eating habits or chronic digestive problems can trigger indigestion.
As it is a common disease so each person may experience indigestion in a slightly different way. It is also defined as persistent or recurrent pain or any discomfort in the upper part of the abdomen.
What are the causes of indigestion?
There are many causes of indigestion which are usually related to lifestyle and can be triggered by food, drinks or medication. Here are some of the common causes of indigestion include:
- Overeating or eating too quickly or eating during stressful situations
- Eating fatty, oily or spicy foods
- Consumption of too much caffeine, alcohol, chocolate or carbonated beverages
- Smoking
- Emotional problems like anxiety, stress, depression
- Use of certain drugs that causes irritation in the stomach, such as antibiotics, pain relievers, and iron supplements
Sometimes indigestion is also caused by various digestion-related conditions, including:
- Gastritis
- Peptic ulcers
- Celiac disease
- Gallstones
- Constipation
- Pancreatitis
- Carcinoma of abdomen
- Intestinal blockage
- Reduced blood flow in the intestine (intestinal ischemia)
What Are the Symptoms of Indigestion?
Symptoms of indigestion can be felt occasionally or daily. People of all ages are affected by this condition.
- The symptoms of indigestion can include:
- Burning sensation in the stomach or upper abdomen
- Abdominal pain
- Bloating (feeling of fullness) and discomfort in the upper abdomen
- Belching and gas
- Nausea and vomiting
- Acidic taste
- Growling stomach
- Trouble swallowing
- Unexplained weight loss
If discomfort persists for more than two weeks and the pain is severe or accompanied by these symptoms, then seek immediate medical attention:
- Unintentional weight loss
- Loss of appetite
- Repeated vomiting or vomiting mixed with blood
- Black or tarry colored stool
- Difficulty in swallowing that gets progressively worse
- Excessive fatigue or weakness
- Shortness of breath,
- Excessive sweating
- Chest pain which is radiating to the jaw, neck or arm

Triphala tablet is balances all the three vitiation Vata, pitta and Kapha dosha. It helps in treating digestive issues like weak digestion, abdominal pain, & cramps, constipation, heartburn, etc.
Recommended Dosage: Take 1 tablet twice daily with normal water.
- Liver care syrup:
Liver Care syrup balances the Pitta dosha because the herbs present in it are very effective such as Kalmegh (Andrographis paniculata), Kutaki (Picrorhiza kurroa), Bhumi amla (Phyllanthus niruri), Giloy(Tinospora Cordifolia), Yavakshar( Hordeum vulgare), Imli Kshar (Tamarindus indica), Mukta Shukta pishti, etc.
This formulation helps in the regeneration of liver cells and promotes liver functioning. It also improves blood flow and thereby helps in the treatment of fatty liver, liver cirrhosis, Hepatitis, etc.
