OVERVIEW:-
Allergic rhinitis is the medical term or hay fever or allergies.Allergic rhinitis is inflammation of the inside of the nose caused by allergen, such as pollen, dust, skin flakes of certain animals.
These symptoms appears when you breathe in something you are allergic to, such things like dust, animal , or pollen.
SYMPTOMS OF RHINITIS:-
Common symptoms of allergic rhinitis include:
- sneezing
- a runny nose
- a stuffy nose
- an itchy nose
- coughing
- a sore or scratchy throat
- itchy eyes
- watery eyes
- dark circles under the eyes
- frequent headaches
- eczema-type symptoms
- hives
- excessive fatigue
CAUSE:-
When your body comes into contact with an allergen, it releases histamine, which is a natural chemical that defends your body from the allergen.
In addition to tree pollen, other common allergens include:
- grass pollen
- dust mites
- animal dander, which is old skin
- cat saliva
- mold
During certain times of the year, pollen can be especially problematic. Pollen grains of flower are more common in the spring season. Grasses and weeds produce more pollen in the summer and fall.
RISK-FACTORS:-
Some factors trigger the condition may cause disease more severe . These factors are:-
- cigarette smoke
- chemicals
- cold temperatures
- humidity
- wind
- air pollution
- hairspray
- perfumes
- colognes
- wood smoke
- fumes
CLASSIFICATION OF RHINITIS:-
The two types of allergic rhinitis are seasonal and perennial. Seasonal allergies normally occur in spring and fall season.Perennial allergies can occur year round, or at any time during the year in response to indoor substances, like dust mites and pet dander.
DIAGNOSIS:-
Most often, the diagnosis is made by your healthcare provider based on an in-depth history and physical exam. In addition to the above signs, the healthcare provider may find:
- Dark circles under the eyes
- Creases under the eyes
- Swollen tissues inside the nose
- Mouth breathing
PREVENTION:-
Preventive measures for avoiding allergic rhinitis include:
- Stay away that area where there is heavy dust, mites.
- Avoiding pets
- Avoiding what you know you are allergic to
HOME REMEDIES FOR RHINITIS:-
It include:-
- Steam inhalation is the most common home remedies for nasal congestion.It is highly effective in nasal obstruction in allergic rhinitis.
- Vitamin c is a natural antioxidant,anti inflammatory and immunomodulatory agent.It reduce the level of histamine in the body and control the symptoms of allergic rhinitis.
- Turmeric is known as anti inflammatory agent.It also help to reduce the allergic rhinitis. Add some amount of turmeric powder in milk and drink it.
- Consume one tablespoon of honey mix with warm water and drink it every morning.
- Apple cidar vinegar solution mix with warm water and drink once a day.
- Add fish in your diet. It help to reduce the inflammation and allergic response.
- Add probiotics to your diet. Probiotics available in many forms like yoghurt. It can boost your immune response.
- Drink Stinging nettle tea.Stinging nettle has been widely used as an alternative treatment for seasonal allergies, including allergic rhinitis. It give quick relief from sneezing, itching, coughing, and nasal congestion.
- Flush your nose with saline water.
- Make kadha with ginger, mint, pepper ,tulsi leaves. Add some balck salt in it and drink it.
