HOME REMEDIES FOR KIDNEY STONES

Kidney stones also known as renal stones or nephrolithiasis, are composed of hard, solid waste materials that build up in the kidneys and form crystals.
- STAY HYDRATED : Dehydration is one of the main causes of kidney stones. Less water make the urine concentrated and allows many minerals and salts to coalesce. Drinking more water, a minimum of eight to ten glasses ensures the body is hydrated and even helps in reducing the growth of kidney stones.
- LEMON JUICE : Citrates are responsible for the breakdown of kidney stones made with calcium deposits. Lemon juice has citrate in large amount, that’s why making it a good home remedy for kidney stones. Taking lemon juice with warm water empty stomach is very useful. Using a natural lemon juice is preferable because the bottle versions have more sweeteners, which increase kidney stones.
- POMEGRANATE JUICE : Taking a glass of pomegranate juice every day can work wonders for the kidney stones. The astringent properties of pomegranate makes them an ideal remedy.
- BASIL : Basil or tulsi has large amounts of acetic acid, another component that helps in the dissolution of calcium-based kidney stones. Basil leaves work well in balancing the uric acid.
- KIDNEY BEANS : Kidney beans are beneficial for kidney stones. They are rich in magnesium, a mineral which will help in dealing with kidney stones. Boil the beans untill they become soft and use the water as a broth or soup.
- APPLE CIDER VINEGAR : Apple cider vinegar contains citric acid which helps in dissolving calcium-heavy kidney stones. Make a concoction by mixing little bit apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and can be used before meals.
- WHEATGRASS JUICE : Wheatgrass is packed with many nutrients and has long been used to enhance health. Wheatgrass increases urine flow and hence it help pass the stones. It also contains vital nutrients that helps with kidney cleansing. You can drink half a glass of wheatgrass juice a day. To prevent it’s side effects, start with the smallest amount possible and gradually increase its quantity.
- CELERY JUICE AND CELERY SEEDS : Celery is an advantageous vegetable in kidney stones. Consuming the juice or the seeds of the celery can increase the antioxidants in your body. Its regular consumption increases the urine production and decreases the risk of contracting kidney stones.
- SKIP HIGH CALORIE FOOD : Foods include spinach, beets, and almonds, raise oxalate levels in the body. However, moderate amounts of low-oxalate foods, such as chocolate and berries, are okay to be consumed.
- WATERMELON : Watermelon consists of large amount of potassium salts that help in regulating the acidic levels in urine. Try drinking a cup of watermelon juice with one fourth tablespoon of coriander powder. Watermelon is a diuretic agent, so this mixture will give the kidneys a good flushing and help to remove small stones and crystals. Use this mixture two to three times a day.
- DATES : Dates soaked in water overnight and consumed in morning after taking the seeds out works well for dissolving kidney stones. Dates have a large amount of fiber that lowers the risk of forming kidney stones. It also contains magnesium that is responsible for cleansing the kidneys.
- Eat diuretic foods : Foods like Celery, brussels sprouts, cucumber, watermelon, and asparagus are great foods which help with passing kidney stones.
- LOOSE EXCESS WEIGHT : Maintain the ideal body weight. Obese people or people who are overweight are more prone to kidney stones. One of the easiest kidney stone remedies is to lose all of your extra weight. Start exercising regularly and eating properly.
- DANDELION : Dandelion root is a kidney tonic which stimulates the production of bile. This is known to help eliminate waste, increase urine output, and improve digestion. Dandelions have vitamins (A, B, C, D) and minerals such as potassium, iron, and zinc.
