Sedentary lifestyle, lack of exercise, anxiety, & stress give rise to a common mood disorder known as depression. In this disorder, there is a persistent feeling of sadness, unhappiness, & loss of interest. This disorder affects the feeling, thinking, & behavior of an individual to different emotions & physical problems. Women are more affected by this disorder as compare to men. During the depression there are different symptoms that may change nearly every day.
A patient with depression faces emptiness & hopelessness, feeling of sadness every time & tearfulness, disturbance in sleep pattern, lack of interest in normal activities like sports, hobbies, sex, lack of energy, loss of appetite, sometimes craving for food is increased, fatigue, faces trouble in making decisions, concentration, & thinking, headache & backache. Most of the people take anti-depressant medicines for treating depression but not got any proper relief. So don’t use such kind of medicines instead of these always use natural herbs & best home remedies to fight against it naturally. 1) Brahmi
Brahmi herb is the best one for dealing with depression. It increases the serotonin levels in the brain that keeps mind calm & healthy. This herb naturally gives effective results in nervousness & anxiety. All the symptoms related to depression are managed with the use of this herb.
How to use:
- The standardized extract of Brahmi capsules are available. So take one capsule with a glass of milk once or twice daily.
- Herbal juice of Brahmi can be consumed once daily. Take 2 teaspoonful of this syrup in a glass of water & drink this mixture.
2) Peppermint
Peppermint is loaded with vitamin A, C, minerals such as iron, calcium, copper, folate, potassium, magnesium, & manganese. The menthol in it provides cooling effect & calm down the frazzle nerves.
How to use:
- Take few peppermint leaves & chew it daily on an empty stomach.
- Prepare herbal tea by adding few peppermint leaves in two cups of water. Boil this mixture until the remaining half cup. Strain the mixture & drink this herbal decoction once or twice daily.
3) Almonds
Almonds are rich in magnesium & nutrients that produce serotonin. It keeps our brain healthy, happy, & relaxed. Selenium in almonds fights against depression.
How to use:
- Take 4 to 6 almonds soak it in a glass of water overnight. Early in the morning peel them & eat on an empty stomach.
- You can also make a powder of dry almonds store it in a container. Add a teaspoonful of this powder in a glass of milk & drink this once or twice daily.
4) Banana
Banana is a great fruit that fights against depression naturally. A high level of tryptophan in it raises the serotonin levels in the body. Regular intake of banana increases dopamine & norepinephrine levels that maintain your mood.

- Include bananas in your daily routine.
- Drink banana shake by adding a teaspoonful of almond powder in it.
5) Blueberries

- Take a pinch of pure turmeric powder in a glass of hot milk. Drink this milk once or twice daily.
- Use pure turmeric powder for cooking purposes.
