Back pain is mostly seen due to the hours you spent in sitting in front of your laptop, sitting in bad posture, or the initial days following your new gym exercises, most of you must be familiar with the back pain that stabs your back following such stressful activities.
This pain can occur to anyone at any time. Backache is often an after effect of some underlying damage to the ligaments or muscles of your back due to a physical injury or medical condition. Lower back pain is observed to be more common after one turns 35.
The common causes of back pain are damage or injury to the muscles, ligament, or discs of your back. Other causes of back pain are improper lifting of an object, lifting heavy objects, poor or awkward posture, unsuitable mattress, sleeping disorders, fever or infection affecting the spine, arthritis, age factor, etc.
Any of these could be a cause of your back pain. In some cases, the cause may remain unknown. The common signs and symptoms of back pain are increased body temperature, swelling on the back, numbness around the back and buttocks.
In some cases, the pain extends to the legs and knees. Pain worsens after long periods of sitting. These symptoms are usually mild to moderate.

1. Lavender Oil
Lavender oil has many medicinal uses. This oil contains antispasmodic and analgesic properties of lavender oil that help in relieving sudden middle back pain and muscle strain and spasms in the back.
While its anti-inflammatory properties can help in reducing the swelling.
How to use
- Apply lavender oil to the affected area on your back.
- Massage gently for 15 minutes.
2. Peppermint Oil
The soothing and anti-inflammatory properties of peppermint essential oil can give you quick relief from back pain. Peppermint oil also exhibits antispasmodic properties, which can help in relieving muscle spasms.
How to use
- Mix a few drops of peppermint oil with a carrier oil of your choice.
- Apply this mixture to the affected area.
3. Castor Oil
Castor oil contains ricinoleic acid that exhibits anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. It not only treats the inflammation that accompanies back pain but also accelerates recovery.
How to use
- Warm the castor oil and massage this on the affected area of your back. Leave it on overnight.
4. Olive Oil
Olive oil is proven to exhibit anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. A combination of these can be of great help for back pain relief as well as its other symptoms.
How to use
- Firstly warm some olive oil and apply it gently on your back.
- Leave it on overnight.
5. Fenugreek
Fenugreek is a very beneficial Ayurveda herb and popular for its natural anti-inflammatory properties. Some studies have also found it to be helpful in relieving pain.
These magical properties make fenugreek one of the best natural home remedies for relieving back pain.
How to use
- Take a teaspoon of fenugreek powder and add it to a glass of hot milk. Consume this. You can also add honey for flavor.
6. Turmeric
Turmeric contains a special compound called curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving from backache properties and wide medicinal applications.

- First Step the basil leaves in hot water for 10 minutes.
- Then add honey for flavor and consume this tea before it turns cold.
- Alternatively, you can apply basil oil.

9. Garlic
Garlic contains components like selenium and capsaicin, which are known for their anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. The combined effects of these garlic compounds can be very helpful in lower back and spine pain ayurvedic treatment.

- Crush the garlic cloves to form a fine paste.
- Apply this paste to the affected area and cover it with a clean towel.
- Leave it on for 25 to 30 minutes and then wipe it off with a wet piece of cloth.

10. Aloe Vera Juice
