INTRODUCTION
Children’s immunity is very weak. In such a situation, they are easily vulnerable to physical problems. Parents need to take proper care of their children. Today we are talking about the accumulation of phlegm in the chest of children. This condition is also called chest congestion. When this condition occurs, mucus builds up in the lower part of the lungs and windpipe. This problem is mainly seen in winter. Due to this problem, children may not only feel difficulty in breathing but they may also have to face cold, cold etc. In such a situation, it is important to know its symptoms and causes.
CAUSES OF PHLEGM IN CHILDREN
There can be many reasons behind the accumulation of phlegm in children. These reasons are as follows-
- When young children get a cold, the problem of phlegm in the chest may arise as a symptom. In such a situation, to overcome this problem, it is necessary to get the cold done as soon as possible.
- Due to cystic fibrosis (genetic problem) in children, phlegm can also accumulate in the chest of children. This phlegm can be quite thick and thick.
- The problem of upper respiratory tract infection can also be responsible behind the accumulation of phlegm in the chest of children. It is a viral infection that can negatively affect the nose, throat and airways of children.
- When children have a problem of chest cold i.e. acute bronchitis, even then phlegm can accumulate in their chest. Explain that during this problem, the airways of the lungs of children start swelling, due to which phlegm starts forming in the lungs. This problem is also called chest congestion.
SYMPTOMS OF PHLEGM IN CHILDREN
many symptoms can be seen when coughing in children. These symptoms are as follows-
- Feeling of pain in the chest.
- Feeling of heaviness in the chest.
- Feeling of tightness in the chest of children.
- The discharge of mucus from the mouth while coughing in children.
- Fever in children
- Feeling children’s headaches.
- Feeling of pain or burning in the throat.
REMEDIES TO CURE CHEST CONGESTION
- Nasal suction with pump Suction pumps are used to clean the nose of babies as cloth based face towels can create a rash on the soft nose of a newborn baby. Be sure to clean the suction pump after every use.
- Garlic and Ajwain Fumes Garlic is a very powerful medicine with anti-bacterial properties. Ajwain kills viruses and bacteria. In just a minute, roast 2-3 large cloves of ajwain and garlic on a griddle. You will be able to smell the powerful fumes by heating the mixture lightly and holding it near your baby. The smell of the mixture will cure your child’s cold and cough. You can also pack the mixture in a pouch for better maintenance.
- Light steam inhalation Steaming is a natural way to provide relief from a stuffy nose, chest and cold. Instead of recommending proper steam for babies using a steamer, putting a steamer or boiling water near your bed will keep your room warm. You can also steam in your bathroom by running a hot water tap for some time. With your baby in your lap, you can sit in the bathroom for 10-15 minutes.
- Cover the chest, head and legs you know how to protect your baby from a cold. Not all children are the same, so it is better to observe your child. We take care in wearing clothes in winters especially to cover with their chest. He may be fine without a hat or socks, but with a small child it is more important to be careful.
- Sanitizing hands if someone in the house has got a cold, ensure that everyone keeps their hands clean. It is not rocket science. But the infection spreads by not keeping people’s hands clean. This is an easy home remedy to protect your family from cold and cough.
- Keep babies up high Babies have difficulty sleeping when they suffer from runny nose and cold. To ease the discomfort of a blocked nose, elevate your baby’s head with the help of a pillow or cushion when she is sleeping. Other home remedies may work better when the baby is resting and sleeping.
- Oil massage a light massage of mustard oil or coconut oil provides relief from cough to the child. Massaging the baby’s chest and back provides benefits.
- Coconut oil with drumstick leaves Heat coconut oil and put some drumstick leaves in it. It is an effective home remedy when applied to children’s hair that is suffering from cold.
- Herbal Coconut Oil Massage Heat coconut oil and add basil leaves. Basil will leave its healing properties in coconut oil. You can also add a pinch of camphor to the coconut oil and mix well to dissolve the camphor. Massage oil on your baby’s chest before sleeping. You can also do hair massage with the same oil. It gives relief from cold and cough.
- Breast milk Breast milk helps fight fever. Milk should not be stopped even during fever.
- Skin-to-Skin Contact Mom most people neglect the power of the child’s connection with the mother. The child remains in the mother’s womb for 9 months and always feels comfortable near the mother. We have used it many times since the birth of our baby. A direct skin to skin contact with the mother gives great relief to the baby. A child should hug his child without any clothes.
- Lukewarm Bath a warm bath helps to bring normal temperature. Give your baby a warm bath in the tub or with a sponge.
- Vinegar Sponge Bath Mix some vinegar in lukewarm water and give your child a bath. Soon your child’s fever will subside.
- Diluted Lavender Oil Massage, give rest to your baby. Fever will go away dilute lavender oil in mustard or coconut oil and give your child a gentle massage from head to toe.
