According to Ayurveda, impaired digestion of the food leads to the production of the toxins that get deposited in the channels or srotas of the body. This causes imbalance of the functioning of the thyroid gland.
Hyperthyroidism is caused due to the vitiation of the vata and pitta dosha. The vitiated vata and pitta dosha cause overstimulation of the digestive power. Overstimulation of the digestive power causes increase in the hunger and hence over functioning of the thyroid gland.
Thyroid is also caused due to impurity in the blood which further causes hormonal imbalances and hence hyperthyroidism.
