FOOD POISONING AND ITS AYURVEDIC APPROACH:

Food poisoning is the food borne illness that is caused by contaminated food. Contaminated means it is infected with bacteria, virus, fungi, parasite and virus.

CAUSES OF FOOD POISONING:
- The different types of virus that are transmitted through food such as norovirus, sapovirus, rotavirus and astrovirus are responsible for it.
- Most common bacteria of severe food poisoning are E-Coli,Salmonella,Campylobacter.
- Parasites: Toxoplasma is the parasite that is commonly responsible for food poisoning which makes immune system weak.
- Bad or expired food
- Intake of dirty water
- Eating raw food
- Unwashed hand and utensils
- Food that is not properly covered or sealed.
SYMPTOMS OF FOOD POISONING:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Fever
- Headache
- Weakness
- Loss of movements in limbs
- Changes in sound of voice
- Burning sensation
- Sleep disturbances
- Loss of appetite
- Dizziness
- Abdominal pain
WHO IS MORE PRONE TO FOOD BORNE ILLNESS?
- AGE: Children less than 5 years have immature immune system. Mature immune system begins to decline after the age of 65 years.
- PREGNANCY: At the time of pregnancy immune system is altered.
- CHRONIC ILLNESS: Much chronic condition can affect the immunity including infection, cancer, autoimmune and immunodeficiency diseases.
- MEDICATIONS: Corticosteroids and immunosuppressant can repress your immune system and make more prone to illness.
PREVENTION OF FOOD POISONING:
- Wash hand properly with soap and water.
- Wash clothes and towels regularly.
- Wash worktops before and after preparing food
- It is important to keep raw meat separate
- Always cover raw meat and store it on bottom of shelf
- Monitor food temperature
- Avoid street food and processed food.
- Avoid cross contamination.
- Do not preserve milk products, cakes, breads for more than a day.
- Always clean your fruits & vegetables with filtered water before using it
COMPLICATION OF FOOD POISONING:

- Brain damage
- Nerve damage
AYURVEDIC APPROACH OF FOOD POISONING:
According to Ayurveda in which disturbance of vata,pitta and kapha dosha. It is correlatedwith virudh ahara .Imbalance in tridosha leads to the disorders such as alaska and vishuchika which are same as food poisoning. People who have low digestion strength in which vata dosha gets vitiated and associated wuth kapha dosha to obstruct the movement of undigested food in the digestive tract. Certain diets and their combinations having properties opposite to the Dhatus which thereby inhibit and interrupt to the processes of formation and metabolism of the body tissues. If Digestive fire gets disturbed, it starts unbalancing energies and leads to diseases.
