WHAT IS BACK PAIN?
Back pain is one of the most common ailments people suffer from. The pain can affect people of any age group and it can be very debilitating and uncomfortable. Back pain occurs because of several reasons like lifting heavy weight, any physical injury and other underlying health conditions. It gets severe with age due to age-related degeneration. Pain in lower back is the most common among cases of back pain.
With some dietary and lifestyle changes, back pain can be prevented. There are several types of treatments available for back pain such as oral medications and physiotherapy. Surgery is needed in rare cases.

In Ayurveda, back pain belongs to katishool. It is caused due to imbalance of the vata dosha in body. Vata dosha is responsible for all the body movements and nervous conduction. Any abnormality in it, either an increase or decrease in vata leads to manifestation of a related disease. There are various types of oral medications and panchkarma therapies which are given for the management of back pain.
