INTRODUCTIONS
- Blackberries are also known as “Jamun” or “Jambu phal.
- Botanical Name : Rubus fruticosus
- Family : Rosaceae
- Blackberry is an edible fruit with enormous medicinal , cosmetic and nutritive benefits.
IN AYURVEDA BLACKBERRIES
- Ras (taste) – Sweet (Madhur)
- Gun (properties) – Heavy(guru) and cold (shita). This means that blackberries are heavy to digest and have a cooling effect on the body.
- Veerya (potency)- Shita (cold)
- Vipak (post-digestive effect) – Madhur (sweet)

- It is rich in essential nutrients and antioxidants.
- Vitamins A,B,C and K.
- Dietary fibers

How should we consume Blackberries ?
Blackberries can be consumed in various ways :
- Smoothies

Jamun juice is a natural blood purifier as it is rich in iron . It is a low – calorie fruit and is having many health benefits.
- Jam or jelly
- Syrup
Cook blackberries with sugar and water to make a syrup that can be used as a topping for pancakes , waffles or ice cream.

Steep dried blackberries in hot water to make a flavorful and antioxidant – rich tea.

- Digestive issues : Blackberries are high in fiber which can be difficult for some individuals to digest. May cause digestive issues such as bloating or gas if consumed in large quantities.
