Azoospermia is a medical condition in which there is absence of sperms in male semen. Nowadays, it has been very common. About 1% of all men suffer from azoospermia. Nearly 10-15% of infertile men have azoospermia.
It can be of two types depending on the cause – obstructive and non-obstructive. When there is blockage in the reproductive tract causing sperm to not enter in semen during ejaculation, it is called obstructive azoospermia.
The decreased production of sperms by testes comes under non-obstructive azoospermia.
There are a variety of reasons for the occurrence of azoospermia such as any anatomical problem, poor testicular development, genetic factors, psychological factors like stress, anxiety, etc.
It can be treated either with some medicines or medical counseling depending on the cause.
