The menstruation in females starts at the age of puberty i.e. around 12-13 years. It stops around 45-50 years and is called menopause. Normally, menstruation stops during pregnancy and lactation. This is not a cause to worry. Amenorrhea is basically of two types: primary amenorrhea and secondary amenorrhea. Primary amenorrhea is the delay in start of menstrual cycle in females. It occurs due to abnormal hormonal levels in blood or any of the anatomical problem. Secondary amenorrhea is the absence of menstruation for three consecutive months. Anemia is an unhealthy condition in which number of red blood cells in the body are less than the required amount. This leads to less availability of oxygen to the body’s tissues. This makes the person feeling tired and weak.
Red blood cells contain a red pigment called haemoglobin. This red pigment binds with oxygen and carry it to all the tissues of the body. Less red blood cells leads to less haemoglobin content. Thus less oxygen reaches the tissues
It can be mild to severe and temporary or long term. In most of the cases, anemia has more than one cause. The major cause of anemia is iron deficiency.
According to Ayurveda , Anemia is known as Panduroga. The word ‘Pandu’ means pale or yellowish white colour. In panduroga , there is deficiency of raktadhatu in the body due to which the colour of the skin gets slightly pale.
