OVERVIEW
Adenomyosis is a female reproductive disorder in which the inner lining of the uterus grows into the muscular wall of the uterus. The inner lining of uterus is called endometrium and the muscular layer I called myometrium. This increases the size of the uterus. Uterus becomes double or triple the normal size. The displaced endometrial tissue functions normally. It grows, thickens and bleeds normally during each menstrual cycle. This causes abnormal and heavy uterine bleeding. There occurs increased abdominal pressure, pain and bloating during menstruation. Adenomyosis can occur either locally or throughout the uterus.
It is not a life threatening condition but it can have an impact on a woman’s daily life. Treatment includes hormonal therapy and in severe cases, hysterectomy is performed.
CAUSES OF ADENOMYOSIS
The exact cause of adenomyosis is not known. But it can be due to the following factors:
- Uterine incisions during any uterine surgery such as C-section lead to growth of endometrial tissue inside the muscular wall of uterus
- Deposition of endometrial tissue in the myometrium during the formation of uterus
- Invasion of muscular wall of uterus by bone marrow cells
SYMPTOMS OF ADENOMYOSIS
In some women suffering from adenomyosis, there are no symptoms at all. However, the common signs and symptoms are:
- Abdominal cramps
- Heavy menstrual bleeding

OVERVIEW
Gallstones are deposits of digestive fluids inside of the gall bladder. Gall bladder is a small, pear shaped organ present on the lower side of liver on the right side of abdomen. Liver is the second largest gland in our body. It is made up of liver cells known as hepatocytes. These hepatocytes make a yellowish fluid called bile. This bile juice is stored in gall bladder and is secreted by it during the process of digestion. Bile juice consists of bilirubin and biliverdin salts and cholesterol. These are the waste products formed by the breakdown of red blood cells and are excreted as urine or faeces.
Gall bladder stones range from the size of a grain to that of a golf ball. They can be either single or multiple in number. They do not grow rapidly. The smaller stones are more dangerous as they tend to travel and thus can blockage. The bigger stone remains at its place.
In most of the cases, gallstones produce no symptoms but those who develop symptoms require medical treatment or removal of gall bladder.
CAUSES OF GALLSTONES
The cause of its occurrence is not known but it is believed to be due to the following reasons:
- Bile containing excessive amount of bilirubin
- Increased amount of cholesterol in bile
- Gall bladder doesn’t get completely emptied

There are two types of gallstones:

OVERVIEW
Lichen planus is an inflammatory skin condition in which there occurs irritation and swelling of the skin, mucous membranes, hair and nails. There is presence of small, red raised bumps. These bumps are very itchy and take several weeks to develop. The sores are painful and scaly. It is an overactive response of the immune system. It doesn’t spread from one person to another. Though it is not a serious disease but it is quite uncomfortable.
Lichen planus can be treated with oral and topical medications which help in suppressing the immune system and thus reducing the symptoms of the disease.
CAUSES OF LICHEN PLANUS
Lichen planus is an auto immune disorder in which the T-cells of the immune system attacks the body’s cells of mucous membranes or skin. Some of the reasons which contribute to the occurrence of lichen planus are:

REMEDIES FOR GLOWING SKIN
- Besan and Yogurt Face Pack
Both gram flour and curd are very beneficial for the skin and help in improving the skin. Apart from the face, you can apply this face pack on your hands as well. To make this pace pack that gives glowing skin, make a paste by mixing 5 spoons of gram flour, 3 spoons of curd and 1 spoon of honey and apply it on the face. INTRODUCTION
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or venous thrombosis is a serious condition in which a blood clot forms in a vein located deep inside the body. A blood clot is a mass or clump of blood that has turned into a solid state. A blood clot can partially or completely block the flow of blood through the vein. Most cases of deep vein thrombosis occur in the lower leg, pelvis, or thigh region. However, it can occur in other parts of the body as well as in the brain, hands, liver, intestines or kidneys. In this article, we are going to explain in detail about deep vein thrombosis.
CAUSES OF DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS
Deep vein thrombosis is caused by the formation of a blood clot. A blood clot causes a blockage in the vein and prevents blood from flowing properly in the body. Blood clotting can occur due to the following reasons:
- Inactivity or reduced mobility.
- Some medicines.
RISK FACTORS FOR DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS
The following factors may increase your risk of developing deep vein thrombosis.
- Age above 60 years.
- Sitting for long periods of time, such as while flying or driving.
- Long periods of bed rest.
- Using birth control pills (oral contraceptives).
- Hormone replacement therapy.

SYMPTOMS OF DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS
Deep vein thrombosis usually forms in one leg or one arm. There are different symptoms of deep vein thrombosis.
- Pain or soreness in the leg.
- Leg cramps.
- Swelling in the affected leg. Rarely, swelling is seen in both legs.
- Discoloration or redness of the skin on the leg.
- Feeling of warmth in the affected leg.
HOW TO DIAGNOSE DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS
- Physical examination – The doctor will do a physical examination of the patient. The patient is asked about his symptoms. The doctor will check for areas of tenderness, swelling, or any change in skin color.
- D-dimer blood test – D-dimer is a type of protein produced by blood clots. In most cases of DVT, the level of D-dimer in the blood increases.
- Duplex ultrasound – This is a non-invasive test that uses sound waves to create images of how blood flows through the veins. This is the standard test performed to diagnose DVT.
- Venography – Dye is injected into a large vein in the foot or ankle. To look for the presence of blood clots, an X-ray creates clear images of the veins in the legs and feet. Since this is an invasive test, it is rarely done.
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan – This is an imaging test done to get clear images of nerves in the internal organs of the body. It is used to diagnose DVT in the abdominal (abdominal) veins.

Introduction
Ayurveda is also called the science of life. It is believed that the whole universe is made up of the five Mahabhutas (five great elements) which are – sky, air, fire, water and earth. These five Mahabhutas are the sources of subtle energy in the body and hence they pervade our body in harmony with each other. Ayurveda works on this principle of these five great elements. Our health remains only on the balance of these elements in the body.
Some energy sources in every person are more than other energy sources and they determine the natural system (prakriti) of that person’s body, some of the natural defects of the body are as follows:
- Vata Dosha – Excess of air and sky elements
- Pitta Dosha – Excess of fire element
- Kapha Dosha – Excess of earth and water element
Doshas affect a person’s body, tendencies (interest for food, digestion), mind and emotions.
For example, people of Kapha prakriti show strong physique, slow digestion, good memory power and strong emotional state, clear earth element. The nature of most people is made up of a combination of two doshas. When Vata, Pitta and Kapha are not in balance, symptoms corresponding to the imbalance of the doshas appear.

OVERVIEW
Hair loss is also known as alopecia. Hair loss can be temporary or permanent. It can affect just scalp or the entire body. When it just affects scalp, it is called baldness. Hair loss can be due to variety of reasons such as hormonal changes, hereditary factors, increasing age or some underlying medical conditions. Hair loss is more prevalent in men though it also affects females. Usually people cover it up with wigs, different hairstyles, hats or scarves. OVERVIEW
Hemorrhoids are also known as piles. These are the swollen veins present in the rectum and anus. The walls of the blood vessels stretch making them bulge and causing irritation during defecation. It is of 2 types – internal hemorrhoids and external hemorrhoids. When the dilated veins are present inside the rectum, it is called internal piles but when present in the skin around the anus, it is called external piles.
Piles is one of the most common cause of rectal bleeding. Nearly 3 out o 4 persons suffer from hemorrhoids.
CAUSES OF HEMORRHOIDS
There are a variety of reasons for the occurrence of hemorrhoids but the exact cause of its occurrence is unknown. Here are some of the common causes of piles:

INTRODUCTION
Uric acid formed when a substance called purine is broken down in the body. Most of the uric acid produced in the body dissolves in the blood and is excreted through the kidneys. When uric acid is not able to get out of the body, then diseases like arthritis, joint pain, and gout and inflammation trouble.
Uric Acid Problem – Usually our body filters uric acid with the help of kidney, which gets out of the body with urine. If people consuming too much purine in food then it is unable to remove this uric acid from the body in proper amount, then in such a situation its amount starts increasing in the body and uric acid accumulates in the blood. High level of uric acid in the body also known as hyperuricemia. The increase uric acid causes inflammation in various muscles of the body, due to which pain starts. It also causes gout i.e. rheumatic disease. To keep uric acid under control, it is important to take special care of diet along with regular exercise, which helps to filter uric acid. That passes out of the body with urine.
WHAT IS THE REASON FOR THE ACCUMULATION OF URIC ACID?
- Uric acid can accumulate in the body due to increased intake of purine rich diet.
- In it is genetic in some case.
- Obesity or being overweight.
- During stress, uric acid can accumulate in your body.
- Health disorders can also cause an increase in uric acid.
- Due to kidney disease.
- Due to diabetes.
- Due to the skin disease psoriasis.
HOW IS URIC ACID MADE?
Uric acid is made up of elements such as carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen. It is obtained by the body in the form of amino acids from proteins. Urea gets converted into uric acid and gets stored in between the bones. Gout in body occurred when increase in the amount of uric acid in the bones, which is a type of arthritis. Due to this problem, there is a complaint of pain in the joints.
FOODS THAT INCREASE URIC ACID
- Curd, Spinach and Dry Fruits
Dry fruits, curd, rice, lentils and spinach are high in protein, which increases uric acid.
- Milk-Rice
If you see symptoms of increased uric acid, then avoid taking milk or rice before sleeping at night. Because due to the consumption of these things at night, uric acid starts accumulating in the body.
- Peeled Lentils
If uric acid increases, you should avoid the consumption of peeled lentils. Because the peeled lentils in pulses can increase the level of uric acid.
- Consumption of Meat, Egg and Fish
To control the rising uric acid, you should stop the consumption of eggs, meat and fish.
- Drink water as per the rules
Do not consume water while eating food, drink water one hour or one and a half hours after eating food. This will help to control uric acid in body.
HOME REMEDIES TO REDUCE THE LEVEL OF URTIC ACID IN BODY
- Eat 2 to 3 walnuts daily. This will help to decrease the increased uric acid.
- Eating high fiber food like oatmeal, oatmeal, beans, brown rice will absorb most of the uric acid and reduce its level.
- Baking soda consumption will help in reducing uric acid. For this, mix one teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water. Now drink 8 glasses of this mixture daily. By doing this the level of uric acid will be reduced. Actually, baking soda helps to break the crystals of uric acid and dissolve them in the blood, but be careful not to take too much baking soda because it can cause high BP problem.
- Consume ajwain daily. This will also reduce the amount of uric acid.
- Eat more and more things rich in vitamin C because vitamin C helps in flushing out uric acid through the toilet.
- Eat half or one lemon daily in salad or drink at least once a day by squeezing lemon in a glass of water.
- If you are fond of eating outside food, then stop immediately and include fruits, vegetables and fiber food in the food.
- Avoid eating things like rajma, chickpeas, arbi, rice, maida and red meat.
- Avoid fructose containing things as they increase uric acid level in body. This has also been proved in a research.
- Eat apples daily. Apples neutralizes uric acid because of the presence of malic acid in it, which reduces its level in the blood.
- To reduce uric acid, stay away from fried and greasy foods. Stay away from ghee and butter too.
- Avoid taking omega 3 fatty acids. Some fish such as tuna and salmon, are high in omega 3 fatty acids, and eating them increases the amount of uric acid.
- If you consume of vitamin C every day, then uric acid will be reduced within two months.
- Drink lots of water. Drink at least 2-3 liters of water daily. Most of the problems go away by drinking water. If you drink more water, then the dirt of the body will come out of the body.
- Chew a spoonful of flax seeds after meals every day, the amount of uric acid will be reduced.
- If the problem of gout has happened due to the increase in uric acid, then do not panic. Drink the juice of Bathua leaves every morning on an empty stomach, do not eat anything for 2 hours after that. Doing this daily will reduce the amount of uric acid after some time.
