Typhoid is a serious disease, it is caused by the Salmonella Enterica serotype Typhi bacteria. It also spreads with Salmonella typhi bacterium. This bacteria enters people through water and food and through it spreads too many people.
Typhoid is contracted by drinking or eating contaminated water or food-winning bacteria. People with acute disease can potentially contaminate the surrounding water supply through feces, as it contains a high concentration of bacteria. Bacteria can survive for weeks in water or dry sewage.
The incubation period for typhoid is about 1-2 weeks and the disease lasts for about 3-4 weeks.
Symptoms of typhoid include:
- Head ache
- Fever up to 108 degrees
- body pain
- Deteriorated appetite
- Nausea
- Diarrhea and constipation
- stomach pain
- Phlegm
If treated on time, its symptoms can be cured in 3 to 5 days, however, it can usually worsen over the course of a few weeks, and in some cases the complication of developing typhoid fever is a significant risk. Many people also experience chest congestion and abdominal pain. Fever stabilizes. Improvement can be seen in the third and fourth weeks in cases without complications. About 10% of people have recurrent symptoms even after feeling better for one to two weeks. Relaps are more common in people treated with antibiotics.
Typhoid can cause serious health problems if not detected in time and so as they say prevention is better than cure ‘it is better to be safe with primitive measures to remain unaffected by the virus that spreads typhoid. To prevent, you must do the following:
Vaccination: Two vaccinations are available which provide protection against typhoid. Talk to your doctor about the correct course of vaccination.
Food Safety: Drinking boiled, bottled or chemically disinfected water: Avoid drinking until it has been boiled before, avoid washing food or brushing your teeth with tap water. Drink bottled water where possible or chemically disinfected. Avoid uncooked food. Make sure that whatever food you eat is cooked well to destroy any harmful germs.
Ensure cleanliness: Always make sure that you keep your personal belongings, home and surroundings clean so that Dettol disinfectant liquid can be used to avoid typhoid bacteria exposure.
Keep good hand hygiene: Remember to wash your hands regularly with germ protection solutions such as germ protection handwash or Dettol bar soap.
Spreading
Typhoid fever spreads from person to person through contaminated food and water. It is spread via the estuary-mouth route, that is, contaminated estuaries (and sometimes urine) enter the reservoirs or food supplies, which may later pass through the mouths of others into the stomach and become infected do. S.Typhi lives only in humans; this bacterium does not live in animals.
Treatment and care
Typhoid fever is usually found in densely populated areas where waterborne contamination is more likely. With improved water sanitation methods and appropriate collection and handling of food and water Helps prevent the spread of typhi.
Antibiotics are the only effective treatment for typhoid fever. Most patients improve after antibiotic treatment, especially if the disease is detected at an early stage.
Complications
Typhoid fever can cause intestinal bleeding and perforation. This can cause severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and sepsis (sepsis). Surgery may be needed to repair intestinal damage.
Less common complications arise are inflammation of the heart muscle, inflammation of the lining of the heart and valves, pneumonia, inflammation of the pancreas, meningitis, kidney or bladder infection, and palpitations.

A gastrointestinal diet helps to keep nausea, abdominal pain, and reflux to a minimum. Gastroparesis is a condition in which the emptying of the stomach does not occur at the appropriate time and is delayed. Therefore, a full stomach causes vomiting to reduce pressure from the stomach. To deal with the disease, it is advisable to eat six small meals throughout the day instead of eating three large quantities. This method of ‘grazing’ never allows the stomach to fully satiate. Foods that are easy to digest such as yogurt, well-cooked vegetables or any type of puree are recommended for a gastro paresis diet. Chewing well before swallowing food is also helpful. Fiber intake should be kept to a minimum. Cereals, whole grains and lentils are to be eaten in small quantities. Fatty food in solid form is the most difficult to digest. Smoothies, burgers or fries are good choices to meet the body’s daily need for fat. In the poultry department, eggs are the easiest to digest and can be cooked in a variety of ways to provide a variety. Cheese and curd can also be included in the diet. Any type of fluid, be it water or juice, reduces the strain on the stomach. A gradual shift from a fluid-centered diet to a more nutritious diet is most beneficial for dealing with gastrointestinal problems.
Use these food items in the limit
Coffee and / or tea – the amount of caffeine that leads to GERD.
Spicy food– Spices always prove to be an irritating source and sometimes cause gastric irritation.
Alcohol – This not only adds empty calories to the body, but also makes the condition worse by excessive fermentation of the sugars present in it, resulting in the production of excess acid in the stomach, which can cause gastric ulcers in a mixture of other conditions.
Acidic foods, such as citrus and tomatoes – the higher the acidic content of foods, the more likely the excess acid is inside the stomach and hence the gastric ulcer.
Raw vegetables / salads– to be avoided as they can cause irritation of mucosa and h. There are chances of pylori infection.
High Fiber Diet – It can eliminate / stimulate mucosa due to its rough texture.

- Eating 5 small easily digested meals in a day at proper intervals is the key to good digestive health. Eating slowly without talking and chewing food properly also improves digestion. This reduces intestinal gas as less air is swallowed during the eating process.
- Emotional eating also causes such disorders. It is therefore very important to correct any so-called underlying causes, to be fully psychological or emotional in order to fully recover from the said condition.
- A prerequisite for achieving a healthy digestive process is a efficiently hydrated body. To prevent any gastric problems, drinking 8-10 glasses of water every day is mandatory. Drinking 2-3 glasses of lukewarm water first in the morning is said to help regular bowel movements and relieve indigestion and flatulence.
- There are a lot of foods that go a long way in maintaining a healthy digestive system. Probiotics are gut-friendly bacteria. They help to break down food and make it easier for the body to digest it. Fermented milk products such as yogurt contain the bacterium Lactobacillus which is known to promote digestion. Non gluten grains, non citric fruits and vegetables, high fiber and lean protein meat are the best choices.
What not to do
- It is difficult to avoid foods like complex carbohydrates and proteins after a gastric attack.
- Avoiding alcohol and smoking is absolutely essential to recover from a stomach attack. Prolonged intake can cause irreparable damage to the intestine.
- Staying away from certain medications such as acetaminophen, analgesics, ibuprofen, non-steroidal non-sterile medications is important in preventing gastritis.
- Caffeine-rich beverages such as soda, tea, and coffee should be taken in a controlled portion. It is necessary to stay away from wheat, tomatoes, lemon, red meat etc.
- It is also advised to stay away from dairy in gastritis. Anything hot and spicy such as chili, black pepper or red chili powder should be kept away from. It has a history of irritation in the gastric layer. Vegetables like cabbage, broccoli, brussel sprouts, beans are hard on the intestine and should be avoided.
