Alzheimer’s is a neurological disorder which is progressive in nature. In this, the death of brain cells occurs causing loss of memory and other cognitive functions.
The most common symptom of alzheimer’s disease is dementia (memory loss). The symptoms are at first mild in nature and then beome severe.
There is presence of plaques in the cells of brain and the nerve cells thus lose connection with each other. Then occurs gap in communication and patient finds difficulty in remembering things.
With time the conditon of patient deteriorates and he needs full time assistance. The patient becomes unable to do his daily chores.
There are various types of treatment available for treating alzheimer’s disease. The medicines slow down the progression of symptoms or improve them temporarily.
However, there is no pemanent cure of the disease.
In Ayurveda, alzheimer’s disease is caused due to aggravation of vata dosha. There is also vitiation of the 3 gunas – satva, rajas and tamas.
Here we mention a weekly diet plan for Alzheimer’s disease which leads to decrease in the frequency and severity of symptoms by balancing the 3 doshas and thus get rid of them by some dietary modifications:
