The unhealthy life-style and not getting proper sleep give birth to a silent killer known as hypertension. In layman language we can call hypertension as high blood pressure. Heart is the main organ in our body as a minor heart attack can kill us. Most of the people not have the knowledge of hypertension and they ignore them. The normal blood pressure is the amount of blood your heart pumps but in high blood pressure the more blood is pumped through your heart that makes your arteries narrower.
You can measure your blood pressure through sphygmomanometer and if the reading is always more than 120/80mmHg than you are a hypertension patient.
Now days the risk of high blood pressure is increasing people at the age of 18 are facing this issue. But mostly after the age of 45, people are facing this problem.

What are the Signs and Symptoms of Hypertension?
The signs and symptoms seen in a hypertension patient are:
- Headache
- Shortness of breath
- Nausea
- Blurred vision
- Vertigo
- General weakness
- Nasal bleeding
- Fatigue
- Pulsation felt in the head or neck
- Swelling in the feet
What are the Causes of Hypertension?
There are different causes for hypertension the most common is excessive intake of salt, kidney problems, thyroid problems, and congenital defect in blood vessels, obstructive sleep apnea, and certain medication like pain reliever, decongestants, cold remedies, birth control pills, & other prescription drugs.
Who are at the Higher Risk of Hypertension?
There are different factors that increase the risk of hypertension:
- Family history: If in your family you have history of high blood pressure than you may be at risk of hypertension.
- Age: With growing age you should have a check on hypertension.
- Race: Hypertension is more common in Africans.
- Obese or overweight: More weight increases the risk of high blood pressure.
- Excessive salt: Increased amount of salt intake can retain fluid that increases the blood pressure.
- Stress & anxiety: High level of anxiety and stress increases the risk of hypertension.
- No activities: Lack of activities like doing yoga, playing outdoor games, exercises, etc increase high blood pressure.
- Alcohol consumption: Excessive intake of alcohol affects your blood pressure and increase the normal range.
- Chronic health conditions: The health issues like diabetes, kidney disease, and sleep apnea increases the risk of hypertension.
What is the Ayurvedic Treatment for Hypertension?
In Ayurveda hypertension is named as “rakta gata vata” in which vata dosha create problem in rakta Dhatu. Ayurvedic herbs give effective and good results as it acts on the root cause of disease. In Ayurveda when there is an imbalance of three energies i.e. vata, pitta and Kapha, it leads to disease. Vata has a sub dosha named prana doshas which regulates the sensory perception, brain, and mind. Tarpak Kapha subtype of kapha, governs cerebrospinal fluid, sadhak pitta subtype of pitta doshas governs emotions and their impact on the heart. So any vitiation of these doshas leads to stress.

3. Brodley Syrup
This is herbal syrup prepared from various herbs like Yashtimadhu (Glycyrrhiza glabra), Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri), Saunf (Foeniculum vulgare), etc. These all herbs in combination show antioxidant, anti-depressant, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, immuno-modulator, anti-hypertensive properties. The use of this syrup maintains hypertension in an individual.
Recommended Dosage: Take 2 teaspoonfuls twice daily with normal water.
4. Nerve Up Tablet:
It is pure herbo-mineral formulation which helps to balance the vata dosha. It act as nervine stimulator and also reduces Kapha doshas. It mainly acts on central nervous system. It contains natural ingredients like Shudha kuchala, Shudha shilajeet, Abhrak bhasma, Praval pishti, Shankh bhasma etc. This contains natural Vatahar properties and helps in curing vata diseases.
