Whatever food we eat gets broken down inside and the glucose i.e. sugar present in it start coming out. On other hand, pancreas releases a type of hormone called insulin. Due to insulin, glucose travels throughout the body through blood and energy is transmitted. This cannot happen without insulin. At the same time, when adequate amount of active insulin is not released from the pancreas, due to this the level of glucose in the blood starts increasing and then this condition is called diabetes or sugar.

Ayurvedic view of diabetes
According to ayurveda, diabetes is linked to an imbalance in the three doshas of the body Vata, Pitta, Kapha. When these doshas become disrupted, it leads to poor digestion, reduced insulin production and inefficient use of glucose, ultimately resulting in diabetes. In ayurveda diabetes is refered to as Madhumeha which means sweet urine.
The imbalance of kapha dosha is primarily responsible for the manifestation of diabetes. The poor pancreatic function increases tha kapha dosha which results in frequent urination and turbidity in urine.
Against to this, Diabetes mellitus there is an imbalanece in Vata dosha, here the accumulation of vata in the large intestine travel to the pancreas severely obstructing the respective functions.
In some cases, It is the Pitta dosha which before moving into the liver gets aggravated in the small intestine bringing damage to the pancreas.
