According to Ayurveda shoola occurs due to vitiation of vata dosha. It causes obstruction of channels and depletion of tissues. Shoola and roga both have the same meaning i.e giving pain. It can appear as a symptom or complication of disease. It is classified as swatantra shoola and paratantra shoola. Swatantra shola as vyadhi itself and paratantra shoola as a complication of disease. Types of shola are vataja, pitaja, kaphaja, sannipataja, dwandaja and amaja shola.

Definition of Pain:
Pain is a signal in nervous system that something wrong with body. It defines uncomfortable sensation in body. It is an unpleasant feeling such as prick, tingle, sting or ache.
Causes of pain:
- Cuts, burns or strains
- Traumatic injury
- Wearing high heels
- Kidney stones
- Childbirth
- Trigeminal neuralgia
- Endometriosis
- Shingles
Types of pain:
- Acute pain: It occurs suddenly and for a short period of time. For example: Injuries such as cuts, burns or bone fractures, Illness such as food poisoning or appendicitis.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF ACUTE PAIN:
Somatic pain: Superficial pain on the skin or soft tissues just below the skin.
Visceral pain: Pain originates in internal organs and lining of cavities in the body.
Referred pain: It is a type of pain that is perceived at a location other than the site of the painful stimulus.
- Chronic pain: This pain occurs for a long time and cause severe diseases. Chronic pain can be mild or severe. It may result from various health conditions such as arthritis, Fibromyalgia, chronic migraine.
- Nociceptive pain: It arises from tissue damaged by physical or chemical agents such as trauma, surgery or chemical burns.
- Neuropathic pain: It is the type of pain i.e caused by a lesion or disease of the somatosensory nervous system. This pain may results from shingles, multiple sclerosis or cancer.
- Functional pain: It is characterized by a subset of individuals who experience pain and related symptoms and disability without clear structural and disease etiology. For example: Irritable bowel syndrome cause abdominal pain, Temporomandibular dysfunction cause jaw pain.
- Radicular pain: It is a type of pain that radiates from your back and hip to legs through the spine. For example trauma likes fall or car accidents.

- Frowning, sad or frightened face
- Grimacing, wincing, eye tightening or closing
- Distorted facial expression
- Rapid blinking.
- Disturbed sleep
- Anorexia

STAGES OF PAIN:
- Transduction: It is the process by which a painful physical or chemical stimulus is transformed into a signal that can be carried to the central nervous system and perceived as pain.
- Transmission: A part of a survival response to prevent tissue damage and attend to and protect damaged tissue.
- Modulation: It is the process by which body alters a pain signal as it is transmitted along the pain away.
- Perception: It involves a number of psychological processes, including attentional orienting to the painful sensation and its source. In this phase individual becomes aware or conscious about pain.

CHANDIGARH AYURVED CENTRE MEDICATION FOR THE TREATMENT OF PAIN:
Pain-O-kill Tablets
As the name suggests these tablets will kill the pain naturally. The herbs present in the formation of these tablets are Ashwagandha, Hadjod, Punarnava, Nirgundi, Methi, Garlic, etc. These herbs in combination show antioxidant, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, immuno-modulator properties. The regular use of these tablets reduce body pain and acts on its root cause.
Recommended Dosage: Take 1 tablet twice daily with normal water.
Pain-O-kill Syrup
Pain-O-Kill herbal syrup is prepared from ingredients like Shunthi, Shudh Guggulu, Ashwagandha, Hadjod, Nirgundi, etc that reduces pain naturally. This herbal syrup helps to reduce body pain, muscle stiffness, inflammation, & swelling. Nerve Plus tablet
Nerve plus tablets shows Anti-bacterial, Anti-inflammatory, Antioxidant, Analgesic and immune-modulator properties. It contains herbal ingredients Ghritkumari (Aloe barbadensis), Kali mirch (Piper nigrum), Giloy satav (Tinospora crdifolia), shudha kuchala, shudha shilajeet, shudha vatsnabh, shudh singraf. It is beneficial for migraine, lower back pain, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, stimulating nerves and appetite.
Recommended Dosage: Take 1 tablet twice daily with normal water.
Pain-O-Kill Oil
Pain-O-kill oil provides good results in body pain, swelling, stiffness, & inflammation. Massage with this oil relieves pain, stiffness, & swelling.
