By looking at the global cancer scale the Breast Carcinoma is on the top list.
It can occur in both male and female but it is common in women.
One can detect it at earlier stage by better understanding of the disease.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
Signs and symptoms of Breast Carcinoma is listed below-
1.A breast lump- lump or thickening that feels different from the surrounding tissue.
2.Sudden Change in the size, shape or appearance of a breast
3.Skin changes like dimpling of skin.
4.Nipple changes into Inverted nipple.
5.Breast skin or Areola changes- Peeling, scaling, crusting or flaking.
6.Peau d’orange- skin over the breast appears like an orange peel or pitting.
Causes
When breast cells begin to grow abnormally there are chances of Breast carcinoma. Further, the cells divide more rapidly and continue to accumulate, leading to the formation of a lump or mass.
Invasive ductal carcinoma- It most often begins with cells in the milk-producing ducts.
Breast carcinoma may also arise in the glandular tissue called lobules (invasive lobular carcinoma) or in other cells or tissue present in the breast.
It may be caused due to hormonal, lifestyle and environmental factors. But it’s not necessary that these factors will cause breast carcinoma.
Genetical or inherited breast cancer
It is estimated that around 5 to 10 percent of breast cancers may be linked to gene mutations passed through generations of a family.
Breast cancer gene 1 (BRCA1) and breast cancer gene 2 (BRCA2), both of the genes increases the risk of both breast and ovarian cancer.
If you have a strong genetical or family history of breast cancer or other cancers,your must consult your doctor.
Doctor may recommend and guide you regarding the blood test which will help you to identify specific mutations in BRCA1, BRCA2 or other genes that are being passed through your family.
Risk factors
The risk factors of breast cancer are the things that make it more likely you’ll get breast cancer. But having these risk factors doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll develop breast cancer. Some women who develop breast cancer have none of the risk factors other than simply being women.
Some of the factors that may include increased risk of Breast carcinoma are-
1.Being female- Women are much more likely than men are to develop breast cancer.
2.Aging- Your risk of breast cancer increases as you age.
3.History of breast conditions- If you’ve had a breast biopsy that found lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS) or atypical hyperplasia of the breast, you have an increased risk of breast cancer.
4.History of breast carcinoma- History of breast cancer in one breast then the person is on risk of developing cancer in the other breast.
5.A family history of breast cancer- If your mother, sister or daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer, particularly at a young age, your risk of breast cancer is increased. But, the majority of people have no family history and still they are diagnosed with breast cancer.
6.Obesity- Obesity may be one of the risk factor of Breast Carcinoma.
7.Beginning your period at a younger age i.e. before age of 12 increases the risk of breast carcinoma.
8.Inherited genes that increase cancer risk- The gene mutations BRCA1 and BRCA2 can be inherited by the parents to the children can increase the risk of breast cancer.
9.Exposure to Radiation to your chest as a child or young adult may increase your risk of breast carcinoma.
10.Beginning of menopause at an older age may develop breast cancer.
12.Women who never had pregnancy- They are at a greater risk of breast cancer than do women who have had 1 or more pregnancies.
13.Postmenopausal hormone therapy i.e. Medications that combine estrogen and progesterone to treat the menopausal signs and symptoms have an increased risk of breast cancer. When women stop taking these medications then the risk of breast carcinoma decreases.
14.Drinking alcohol. Drinking alcohol increases the risk of breast cancer.
