DESCRIPTION
- People experiences unexpected heavy loss of hairs called hairfall.
- Generally human shed 50 and 100 single hairs per day.
- Hair shedding is part of a natural balance maintaine some hairs out while others grow in.
- When the balance is interrupted hair falls more and less hair grows at last loss of hair occur.
- Hair loss is different than hair shedding. The medical term for hair loss is “alopecia.”
CYCLE OF HAIR GROWTH
The cycle of hair growth goes through three cycles:
- The anagen phase (growing phase) – last from two years to eight years. This phase generally refers to about 85% to 90% of the hair on head.
- The catagen phase (transition phase) – in this phase hair follicles shrink and takes about two to three weeks.
- The telogen phase (resting phase) – takes about 2 to 4 months. At the end of this phase the hair out from the scalp.
WOMEN WHO EXPERIENCE HAIR LOSS
- Any girl or woman can be affected by hair loss and it is usually more common in:
- Women older than 40.
- Women who just had babies.
- Women who have had chemotherapy
- Women have been affected by other medications.
- Women hairstyles that pull on the hair
- Use harsh chemicals on hair.
- Menopausal women
WHAT ARE THE MYTHS ABOUT HAIR LOSS?
- Losing hair because use shampoo too much
- Colored it or gotten a perm.
- Dandruff causes hair loss in women.
- Stress causes hair loss in women.
- If people shave his head hair will grow back twice as thick.
- If people stand on his head there will increase circulation, stimulating hair growth.
- If people brush his hair 100 strokes a day that will make your hair healthier.
- Hats and wigs cause hair loss in women.
- Hair loss only affects intellectual women.
CAUSES
1. Nutritional deficiencies – essential nutrients may be missing from diets such as iron, copper, zinc and proteins.
- Vitamin D deficiency all responsible for hair loss.
2. Hormonal Imbalance – many women can experience hormonal imbalance which can cause hair loss.
- This is mainly caused by excessive dihydrotestosterone conversion.
- Estrogen is the main hormone that women produce, testosterone and other androgens such as
- DHEA also take place in the female body. After reach a certain age, they may begin to convert these androgens to DHT.
3. Thyroid issues – If the thyroid gland produces excessive or an insufficient amount of the thyroid hormone, then the hair growth cycle may change.
4. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) – Women with polycystic ovary syndrome have a hormonal imbalance which creates higher levels of androgens than normal.
- This causes hair to grow on the face and body, while the hair on the head grows thinner
5. Birth Control Pills – these birth pills also cause hair loss. The hormones in the pill suppress ovulation and cause hair to thin, especially in women with a family history of hair loss. Other drugs associated with hair loss are blood thinners high blood pressure, heart disease, arthritis, and depression medication.
6. Stress – Extreme stress can cause sudden hair loss which last for several months.
- Minimizing stress through exercise, meditation yoga and massages will reduce chances of experiencing hair loss.
7. Hairstyling products – hair loss due to the toxic chemicals found in dyes and styling products.
- Almost all shampoos contain Sodium lauryl sulfate which has a toxic effect on immune system and impede hair growth
8. Alopecia areata – An autoimmune disease that affects up to 2% of the population.
- It causes hair loss in round patches and can lead to total baldness.
9. Genetics – Hair loss that is genetic is known as androgenetic alopecia and the most common cause of hair loss.
- The gene can be inherited from either mother’s or father’s side of the family.
NATURAL REMEDIES TO TREAT HAIRFALL
1. Egg mask
- It is rich in sulphur, phosphorous, selenium, iodine, zinc and protein all these together promote hair growth.
Method to prepare the mask: - Separate white portion of one in a bowl and add a teaspoon each of olive oil and honey.
- Beat them together to make a paste and apply it all over from root to tips.
- After 20 minutes, rinse with a mild shampoo.
2. Licorice root
- Licorice help to prevents hair loss and further damage to the hair. It soothe the scalp and get rid of dry flakes and dandruff.
Method of preparation - Add a tablespoon of ground liquorice root and a quarter teaspoon saffron to one cup of milk.
- Apply this paste to scalp and hair length and leave it overnight.
- Wash hair next morning.
- Repeat this process twice a week.
3. Coconut milk
- The protein and essential fats present in coconut milk promote hair growth and prevent hair loss.
Method to prepare the milk: - Grate a medium-sized coconut and simmer it in a pan for five minutes.
- Strain and cool.
- Then add one tablespoon of crushed black pepper and fenugreek seeds to the milk.
- Apply on scalp and hair.
- After 30 minutes rinse with a shampoo.
4. Green tea
- Green tea rich in antioxidants which boost hair growth and prevent hair loss.
Method of preparation: - Soak two three teabags in one-two cups of hot water depending on the length of hair.
- When it cools pour this over scalp and hair
- Gently massaging head.
- Rinse with cool water after an hour.
5. Beetroot
- It is rich in vitamins C and B6, folate, manganese, betaine and potassium
- All are essential for healthy hair growth.
- Acts as a detoxification agent by keep the scalp clean.
Method of preparation: - Boil 7-8 beetroot leaves
- Grind along with 5-6 henna leaves.
- Apply this paste on scalp and leave for 15-20 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
6. Greek Yoghurt and Honey
- Add 2 tablespoons of yoghurt with 1 tablespoon of honey and lemon mix all these in a bowl.
- Apply this paste to the scalp and roots.
- Leave it for 20-30 minutes and rinsing with cold water.
- Apply this paste once a week.
7. Aloe Vera
- Aloe Vera is good remedy for hair loss and boost hair growth.
- It is also effective scalp problems like itching and flaking.
Method of preparation: - Take Aloe Vera stalk and extract the pulp.
- Apply it to hair and scalp and leave it for about 45 minutes.
- Rinse with normal water.
- Repeat this process three to four times a week to see better results.
8. Fenugreek
- Methi seed is among the most effective home remedies to stop hair loss.
- It repairs the hair follicles and helps in hair re-growth.
Method of preparation: - Soak the fenugreek seeds overnight in water.
- Grind it to a fine paste add one of teaspoon coconut oil and apply to hair and scalp.
- Leave the paste on head for about 30 minutes.
- After 30 to 40 minutes rinse it with normal water.
- Repeat this process twice a week to control hair fall.
9. Onion juice
- The antibacterial properties of onions help to fight against scalp infections, while the sulfur content improves the circulation of blood to the hair follicles it also promotes hair growth and controls the loss of hair.
Method of preparation - Grind the onion and extract the juice from it.
- Dip the cotton ball in the onion juice and apply it to scalp.
- Leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes and then wash it using normal water and a mild shampoo.
- Follow this procedure once a week.
