Diet Chart for Liver Diseases
- LIVER CIRRHOSIS – it is the late-stage liver disease where healthy liver tissue is replaced with scar tissue and the liver become permanently damaged. Many types of liver diseases cause healthy liver cell death and inflammation. This is followed by cell repair and tissue scarring as a result of the repair process.

- FOOD ITEMS TO AVOID WITH CIRRHOSIS
- Alcohol and Alcoholic beverages.
- Deep fried foods like samosas, kachori, french fries, fast foods and frozen foods.
- Preservatives rich foods like sauces, jelly, purees, packed juices, pickles, jams, canned fruits and vegetables.
- Beef, Pork, Mutton, Butter, Lard, Margarine, Cheese.
- Refined cereals.
- Sweets and pastries.
- DO’S AND DONT’S WHILE FOLLOWING CIRRHOSIS DIET PLAN
Do’s - Eat whole grain cereals
- Eat salad with meals.
- Eat fruits in between meals
- Add fresh Garlic and Ginger for gravy.
DONT’S - More oil for the food preparation
- Fast foods
- Sweets, pastries and backed foods
- Meat and meat products
- Alcohol and alcoholic beverages.
- FOOD ITEMS CONSUME IN LIVER CIRRHOSIS
- Cereal – Brown rice, whole wheat, oats, jowar, bajra, ragi
- Pulses – Red gram, green gram, black gram etc.
- Vegetables – all gourds-bitter gourd, snake gourd, ridge gourd, bottle gourd, ivy gourd, ladies finger, tinda,green leafy vegetables
- Fruits – citrus fruits-orange, mousambi, grape fruit, lemon; berries-strawberry, blueberry, black berry; cranberry, cherries, papaya, pineapple, guava.
- Milk and milk products – low fat milk, low fat curd.
- Oil – 2 tsp.
- Sugar – 2 tsp.
- Other beverages – green tea
