What is heart blockage?
The problem of heart blockage is known as conduction disorder in the medical term. Heart blockage is a problem associated with electrical signals in the heart. These electrical signals cause the heart to beat and act to control the heart rate. In addition, they also help the heart to carry blood throughout the body. At the same time, the problem arises when these electrical signals from the upper part of the heart (atria) do not reach the lower part of the heart (ventricles) properly. The same problem is known as heart blockage.
Types of heart blockage
There are mainly three types of heart blockages, which are defined by different parts of the heart. These are as follows:
Sinoatrial node block: The sinoatrial node is the vital part of the heart that acts like a natural pacemaker. It causes the heart to move by generating electrical signals. When this part is affected due to some reason and is unable to give proper signal to the heart, it is called Sinoatrial node block (3).
Atrioventricular node block: In the case of atrioventricular node block, the electrical signal originating in the heart is either slow or does not reach the upper part of the heart (atria) to the lower (ventricles) (4).
Bundle branching block: There are two types of bundle branching block, which is related to the lower right and left side of the heart.
Right bundle block: This condition arises due to lack of proper blood flow in the myocardium (heart muscle).
Left bundle block: This condition arises due to injury to the myocardium (heart muscle) or due to any other damage.
