Varuna ( Crataeva nurvala) belongs to the family Capparidaceae , is a deciduous herb medium size tree with a height of 50 feet .
Bark of the tree is brown or grey in color and smooth and contain horizontal wrinkles , while the branches are white tinged with purple and yellow patches .
The Flowers are Greenish White in color , light yellowish or creamy colored and are fragrant .
Fruit of the herb is like ovoid berries , resembles to lemon which after ripening turns to red in color .
It contain multiple seeds engulf in fresh yellow pulp.
Flowering season of the herb is in march and fruit grows in the month of June .

AYURVEDIC PROPERTIES :-
1 Varuna is bitter , sweet, strong, warm, short, harsh, kafwatashamak, pitta vada, dipan, grahi.
2 It is worm, abscess, bloodshot, ashmari, gulm, inflammation, venereal disease, head, stroke, heart disease, diuresis, colic, gout, epileptic abscess and antipyretic.
3 Its flowers are receptive, Pitta, and Amoeba and Its fruit is sweet, sir, snigdha, guru, warm and Kaphapittamsham.
4 Its herb is rude, small, cold, bitter and aphrodisiac.
5 Its dermis, columnar, incisive, vatulomac, vertebrae, digestive, appetizer, soft, diuretic, antipyretic; Pleurisy, spleen enlargement, hypnosis, diuresis, bladder inflammation, fever, gout, arthralgia and pleurisy are beneficial in inflammation.
6 Its leaves are hard, sharp, hot, appetizing, purifying, anti-inflammatory, convulsive and forceful.
USES :-
1 Ophthalmology– Grinding the bark of Varuna and applying it on the outer part of the eye provides relief in ophthalmology.
2 Gandamala – 50 ml Varuna Moolatwak with a honey in regular quantity and regular intake is a mitigation of chronic goiter. Drinking honey mixed with 20 ml Varuna root decoction is beneficial in inflammation of the lymph nodes.varuna bark and apply it on the goiter.
3 To Cure Gulm / SHIRSHUL / ABHYANTAR VIDARDHI :- Consuming Gulm-20-25 ml Varunadi decoction is beneficial in Gulm, Shirshul and Abhyantar Vidardhi .
4 To Cure Arsh :- By making the boiling of the leaves of Arsh-radish, Triphala, Arka, Dynasty, Varuna, Arani, Horseradish and Ashmantak, by taking out the patient of Arsh, the sprouting of the sprouts and (Vedana) suppresses the colic.
5 Ashmari-20-25 ml Varuna in the original skin, by mixing 1 gram of Varunatvakka, drinking Ashmari (stone) breaks out.Regular boating Ashmari breaks down by drinking regular water after mixing yavakshar and jaggery in the boiling (15-20 ml) of varunatvak, triphala, dry ginger and gokshur.Regular drinking by mixing 65 grams of yavakshar in the clan of the division Varunatvak, Shilajit, Sont and Gokshur, breaks down the Ashmari (stone).Mixing 3 to 6 grams of jaggery in 20-25 ml Varun twigth and drinking it destroys the ashmari and reduces the prosthesis.Varunadya ghee should be consumed in 1-5 grams daily, jaggery should be consumed when it becomes old and mustard should be drunk when jaggery is digested. It provides benefits in Ashmari, (foggy formula) sugars and urine.Morning intake of Gokshur, castor seeds, dry gourd and Varuna twitch is a mitigation of Ashmari (stone).Drinking mixed with jaggery and 65 mg yavakshar in 20-25 ml decoction of Nagar, Varun, Gokshur, Pashanbhed and Brahmi or drinking 65 mg of potassium (15-25 ml) in Varun Tvak, Pashanbhed, Shunthi and Gokshur ashmari Ashmari comes out after being depicted.
6 To Cure Colic After Delivery :- The shul-varuna skin tone is used in the treatment of colic after delivery.
7 Rheumatism ( Aamvata)- Consuming 5-10 grams of fresh milk mixed with coconut milk and butter is beneficial in rheumatism. or After grinding Varuna skin and leaves, tying it in cloth and making a bundle, making Ssai (Sekai / Sake) is beneficial in rheumatic pain.
8 Sandhivata :-Grinding the leaves of Varuna and applying it in the joints reduces the pain of the joints.
9 Vissarp :- Grinding the drugs of Varunadi Gan and applying it is beneficial.
10 Cure Apocalyptic period :- Taking the decoction of white rainbow root and decoction of Varuna root provides benefit in the apocalyptic period. Drinking 1 gram of powdered liquor in the decoction of 25 ml Varunadigonikta liquids, quenching of immature abscess located in the middle body.
11 Antravidhrdhi : -Varunadigana’s quath (20-25 ml) by giving Uskadigana Churna (1 gram), drinking it, suppresses the congestion of the abscess.
12 Kaphaj-Vidaridhi – Make the decoction of Triphala, Horseradish, Varuna and Dashmul, drinking Guggul and Gomutra in 20 ml of boil is beneficial in Kaphaj Vidhi.
13 Vayang ( Facial Freckles) :- Grinding the satiric hair in goat’s milk and applying it (black spots on the skin) quenches the satire and increases the oral ear. or By rubbing the bark of varuna in goat’s urine, the satire (facial freckle) disappears.
14 Padhdah ( Burning of Feet ) :-Grinding the leaves of Varuna and applying it to the feet reduces the burning and swelling of the feet.
15 To Cure Gout :- Mixing of horseradish bark in the bark of Varuna and grinding it with kanji and applying it to the place of anguish is a suppression of gout.
16 To Overcome the effect of Poison :-If poisonous Anjan causes vision impairment, etc., by rubbing the gum (nirya) of Varuna in water and extinguishing it in the eye, the poison is quenched.
17 Pootanapratidharthdhar – Brahma, Aralu, Varuna, Paribhadra and Sariva by making a boil and purifying the potion balgraha.
