The path through and through the breath in your lungs is called the trachea. If there is irritation and swelling in your trachea, you may have bronchitis. Bronchitis is a respiratory disorder where the mucous membranes found in the lung passage become inflamed. Bronchitis is characterized by phlegm, breath and coughing spells that occur when the throat membrane becomes dry and thick. This causes the airways in the lungs to be narrowed or closed.
This is a type of stimulation due to which the trachea produces more mucus.
If you are a regular smoker, it is extremely difficult for you to recover. Cigarette smoke destroys small hairs in your lungs (cilia). These structures help in brushing off excess mucus, irritants and debris. May cause permanent damage to cilia. This condition is called COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and one has difficulty breathing.
